I did a breakdown of the last 4 games of the bills rush defense. I did this mainly becasue bill fans keep saying that QB's are skewing their averages. well here is the truth...

Overall rushing D
140 ATT
689 YDS
4.92 YDS/CAR
5 TD'S
1.25 TD'S/GAME

Now these figures have been said to inaccurate because of performances from Vick. So lets break it down to just RB's vs their D
112 ATT
547 YDS
4.88 AVG

WOW...just a slight dip...Well what do the QB stats look like?
26 ATT
135 YDS
5.19 AVG

Huh? You mean QB's are only averaging in an extra .27 yards per carry... Well maybe just 1 or 2 guys are skewing the results... Maybe caddilac and vick messed both the results up.. Lets see

14 players have attempted to rush against the Bills
11 average 3+ yards per carry
8 average 4+ yards per carry
6 average 5+ yards per carry
4 average 6+ yards per carry
1 averages 7+ yards per carry

You mean they have only kept 3 guys out of 14 below 3 yrds a carry?

Ok...Ok. Perhaps 1 big game messed up all the numbers...nope
Texans 4.13 per carry
Bucs 4.76 per carry
Falcons 6.56 per carry
Saints 4.073 per carry

All of these show a leaking defense....

Hold on!! maybe some of these teams ran an extreme amount. That could skew the numbers...
Texans 23 att (looks soggy, lets run some more)
Bucs 40 Att (Yep this running is working)
Falcons 36 Att (Chugginh away)
Saints 41 attempts (Tebucky said they never do half-time adjustments over there)

None of these numbners was all that extreme. In fact no player this year has attempted more than 27 runs in one game against them.

The fact of the matter is that 76% off the people who have tried to run against the bills have done so with effectivness. These numbers are not skewed by giant performances. The bills run D is suffering. And i believe a lot of it has to do with the loss of pat williams. Teams are now able to double team sam adams and use 1 guy to take their other DT out of the play. Before you had to pick who to double team and hope the other guy had the Flu. With spikes gone expect it to get worse. Not that he was doing much besides getting pancaked by O-linemen who his frontline was supposed to keep off of him.

So in short...Bills fans- Welcome to hell, and everything we wen't through last year. We kept a seat warm from you from last year. oops sorry, we won't be there besides you. Were moving up quicker than the jeffersons.

Hope this helps.....

You might as well stick a Bill in that picture. Hey -- it sorta looks like a Bill! A little anemic, bloody at times, and three people are beating up on them. Now if that thing could only point fingers at their ****y QB and / or whine, we might be in business. You could almost say that was the Falcons, Bucs, and Saints!

absolutely great post. Nice research.

You should get paid to do this stuff.

One thing I find funny about Losman and the bills.

Losman talks like he is peyton manning. Does he not realize he SUCKS???

When feeley would play he never really mentioned anybody else for losses except for his performance.

Losman sounds like an idiot, looks like he should be the drummer in some garage band, and plays like well, feeley actually comes to mind.

Good post, but add time of possession and penalties to this and lets really see what's happening....I do think P. Williams departure had a lot to do with this, but would like to see the whole picture. I think the failure of the O is wearing out the D, sounds familiar?

i believe there has been a lot of writers and such that like to compare him to B .Farve. they do this becuase GB was going to draft him if he fell to them. strong arm, ****y attitude, and so on. writers do this cus thats what they do. they compare draft picks to nfl players, its stupid, but they do it anyways.

i may be mistaken, but i dont think he has said, "im great".. or anything like that.

i do want a QB who is confident, but IMO, in the 4 games this season, he has not been confident in his WRs. often throwing it to far away from the defenders, and resulting in incompletions.

i want him confident in his abilities. cus if a QB starts douting his ability, its all over.

He was ****y last year. Honestly i think that he has handled himself very well this year. The thing i wonder is who would be the starting QB had they had an actual Training camp competition?

Also i wonder what losman's problem is

Is it to fast for him to get to his second, third read?

Is he scared to take a chance? He throws few INT's, but that kid loves to throw the ball away.

Or are defenses just confusing him.

The scary thign is his numbers have gotten worse every game. I doubt if losman loses experience the longer he plays. That means DC's are staying ahead of his learning curve.

During the offseason the mantra was don't lose games, keep them close and the D will win it.... Not anymore Either the O gets the D off the field for a break, or they finish 6-10.

i think he has a clock in his head. and if his first 2 reeds arnt WIDE open, hes looking to run.

he hasnt thrown to many INTs, but let me tell you, its cus the defenses arnt catching them. he should have ~5 INTs. but these usualy come on plays where he looks one way then quickly turns and throws another. and he doesnt see a LB standing in the way.

i think he is a little scared of the speed of the defenders. he seems scared to throw close to them, cus they might pick it, or he doesnt throw it at all. right after a play they show our coach saying, "just throw it". he wont throw it unless the WR is wide open. he looks more relaxed on QB runs.

and the most disturbing thing is that he seems to "trust" J. Reed, our #3 guy the most. and reed SUCKS!!!!

guys be realistic, there is always a reason. buffalos defense is NOT as bad as the numbers show. you all know this. when an offense as ineffective as buffaloe's is, that really wears out the team...WE KNOW THIS FIRST HAND. how many times do you see the miami defense get torched at the end because our offense could not stay on the field?

keep that in mind.

You should at least withhold the smack talk until AFTER we beat them. Remember what happened to the Broncos and Panthers fans. They had to eat a lot of words.

Ok lets look at Time of possesion.
Week 1.
Bills 38:15 Texans 21:45 4.13 avg yards per carry

Week 2
Bills 21:10 Bucs 38:50 4.76 avg yards per carry

Week 3
Bills 30:49 Falcons 29:11 6.56 avg yards per carry

Week 4
Bills 23:40 Saints 36:20 4.073 avg yards per carry

Look at that!!! there worst games and they had the most TOP. This means they are not getting worn down, they are just giving up big runs. They had the most TOP in 2 games! On their worst game it was almost even. If they were getting tired there worst games in order should be

Bucs, saints,falcons,Texans

But it is reading as
Falcons, bucs, texans, saints

Those are not matching up. This means they are consistently giving up big runs.
