"Punter Matt Turk's days with the Dolphins are clearly over, to the point that he won't even be doing any rehabilitation at the building. Turk's locker at the team facility was cleaned out, and the name plate above the locker was removed."


There must be more to this story other than the injury.

I think its about time we got a pair of fresh legs in when it came to a punter. I think Turk had to put 98 times didnt he last season so his old legs will be hurting. :D

Still, he has done a good job for us but now D.Jones is the future at punter for the Phins....

I've always liked Turk.
He's a big boy for a Punter and he's had some nice hits on punt returners. Not afraid to get in on the action.

Nonetheless he is still just a punter and this Jones kid is supposed to have quite a leg.
 
Punters and kickers have it made. You get paid millions without having to worry about concussions, torn ligaments, broken bones, or getting dirty. I wonder if Olindo Mare even needs to take a shower at the end of a game.
 
Punters have it made, Kickers have pressure of a dirfferent kind....

How many punters and kickers make millions?

Most professional athletes have it made...Alex Rodriguez makes something like $13,000 per at bat. That's sick.

Ya but being a punter is great considering most of the NFL are of the non-superstar, low salary player. Punters hardly play, hardly pratice, don't have to study a playbook, and they have the longest careers by far. If you are good and can stay limber you could have a 20 year NFL career and rack up some decent cash in that time. I would kill to be a NFL caliber punter.
 
i'll miss turk----i'll never forget the crap we went through with mark royals after he left the first time....i'm sure turk will catch on w\someone else and end up booming some kicks against us...
 
I'm sure it was more then just an injury. Saban has already said he's looking at the age of players, plus their salary. Comparing Turk to Jones....it just made sense to cut him complete and start from scratch.
Seems logical to get Jones in here and a few games under his belt this year for the drive to the playoffs next year.

Before I start I wanna fill you in on some breaking news.... Matt Turk will be cut. You heard it here first. Not because Turk sucks or anything, because he doesnt. He did fine in practice today and has been very productive durin his carreer. However... This new punter kid (cant remember his name) we got that used to play wit Saban at LSU is a stud. Anything Turk did... this kid did better. Turk would be punting about 50-55 yards... this kid was punting 55-65 yards... just straight up bombing them. He had atleast 7-8 punts of 60 yards or more. Then... they started to punt em up high for hang time... and this kid can punt them higher than Ricky. I was using the second hand on my watch (not too accurate) but I had the hang time at 6 seconds on a few of em... Turk looked great... this kid looked better... and his contract is a hell of alot cheaper I can gaurentee that. Who knows... maybe Saban can get a draft pick for Turk...
