These are the two most overlooked and under rated NFL players IMO I was looking up stats for fun and here is what I found

1- Torry Holt- Everyone knows he is great, but when talking of top WR's we always say 'Moss, Owens, Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison'

Well fact is Holt may be the best out there here is how he compares to all time great Jerry Rice through their first 7 seasons

Catches

Holt- 615
Rice- 610

Yards

Rice- 10,273
Holt- 9,447

TD Cacthes *rice has the lead in this one by a lot*

Rice- 103
Holt- 54

If Holt were to play to the age Jerry Did *unlikely* he would break his record for catches and have a shot at the yardage, not to mention Holt may be the best route runner in the NFL, has great work ethic, and always catches it before he tries to run with it

My other most under rated player

2-Clinton Portis here is how he stacks up with Emmit smith to this point in their careers *4 years*

Rushing Yards

Portis- 5818
Smith- 5699

TD's

Smith- 50
Portis- 43

Yards Per Carry

Emmit- 4.7
Portis- 4.7

Now please note im not saying Holt is as good as Rice, or Portis is as good as Smith, Im just saying that for the era they play in, they are putting up great numbers and are often overlooked when talking about great players in the game

Also feel free to post any players you see as not getting the credit they deserve and why

i don't think Holt is underrated.... dude he has had his hype in the past. He got the name "big game" permanently stamped on his image after the '99 greatest show on turf season.... people know who he is.

Agreed, very well respected player. Not getting a lot of pub this season because of the Rams' struggles. On a side note, looking at Rice's TD #'s in that comparison is amazing...there's a reason why he's considred one of the best to ever play the game.

Portis is a good player. Over 1,500 yards this season. Plus he's a very odd guy...you've seen his interviews when he's dressed in wigs and disguises right?

People know who he is of course and know he is a great player

But when people talk about great WR's they always seem to say 'Harrsion, Moss, Steve Smith, Chad Johnson, Owens'

He had his hype but people have seemed to completly dropped him out of the conversations of the top WR's

And Noodle Arm

Your right Portis is....something all right....he likes to play dress up and he acts weird....I never said he was normal

that list changes every year, you know that.... people say that list each year based on who is performing the best that year.

and as far as Portis vs. Emmitt, you can't just compare numbers.... i mean if you did that, you are forgetting the Shaun Alexanders of the world too, who probably surpass the Emmitt Smiths.

And Holt has been the best this year and produced, after today he has over 100 catches and yet no publicity

Remember this is a thread about being under rated, im not comparing the players as much as I am just useing the numbers to show how they have performed and are often overlooked

Defense its Dan Morgan

Offense its Brad Johnson ( don't even argue with that one.)
