I understand why Philbin had such a hard time with Matthews. He lacks discipline, The interceptions Tannehill had were miscues on the routes with Matthews. I'm not completely blaming Matthews but he still lacks discipline. Tannehill should of stood up for himself, He gets a huge contract and lacks execution. Matthews most likely won't be on the Dolphins roster next year because, first we cant afford hime due to free agency. Second we are stacked at WR.

on the first pick he did come out of his break pretty slow and went up field on the out allowing the cb to undercut the route

This! It looked like a lazy route to me as well. Although, some would argue that the QB could recognize the position of the defender as well.....but if the route is run crisply, the INT doesn't happen.

Matthews has improved significantly this season and has been rewarded with more opportunities. I think that he is a genuine WR2. However, he has a history of being a bit of a diva and the coaches still have work to do in polishing his route running and making him more disciplined. A QB like Brady would not tolerate his lapses, errors and antics. However, a QB like Brady could also make him a genuine star.

Its a lazy route but tannehill has to read that db leverage during the route better and go elsewhere...the 2nd int was just plain a bad coverage read by mathews...im sure tanny is getting tired of picks off misreads by the pass catchers...probably half have been

Would any of it have mattered thursday though? No...this team was completely outclassed and so was the coordinators

Matthews may make a mistake or two but he's a competitive kid and a fighter. We've developed him and he's a good player. I fund a way to keep him. He has a nose for the sticks and the end zone. We can't afford to develop good players and let them get away. That's not a good cycle. He's not a wuss like Hartline.

When a db can just mirror the wr in the route and not even turn his head to the qb til the out cut and have the ball hit him pretty much between the numbers thats a bad leverage in the route read by the qb...the only way he gets away with that throw is if mathews comes out of the cut completely horizontal (which is the route design) and stacks the db on his back so he has to go thru matthews to the ball...better route maybe he gets away with it provided mathews stacks the db on the out cut flat across

Still the leverage read in the route says another progression...

No wr coach teaches the wr to take that out cut fading up the field...by doing so he allows a db to undercut him and the ball...mathews has to know better

Play started bad by the qb ended bad by the wr

I agree with both assessments...Matthews did not run a good route but Tannehide should have never thrown his way.

I agree with you. He makes some mistakes, but is a competitor and has passion. Hopefully, we can find a way to keep him around.

He's still developing and he hasn't hit his ceiling. I want him back next year. Jennings can take a hike.

Kind of strange how we hardly had any INTs due to miscues in 3+ seasons and now we've had 4 in the last 3 weeks.

Rishard is on pace for a 75 catch, 1,100 yard season. His average yards per catch is 15.2, but he's the problem. Not the QB who throws 3 yard passes on 3rd & 11. Okay.

Ryan Tannehill is on pace for over 4,400 yards this season, your point?

I do like Tannehill and am a supporter, however can't argue with this, probably every 1/3 times or something high like that.
