The Very Worse...

its laughable that anybody could see Pioli as the worst gm candidate possible. I understand he didn't get the job done in KC but to act like no GM would be a worse hire is to completely ignore all of his career .

The fact that Carl Peterson is Ross' rock and right hand man in the decision making of the new GM, is what scares me.

It shouldn't. Peterson is very knowledgeable about up and coming gm candidates.

I'd take Khan even tho his real expertise overlaps with Aponte. The reason is, Dolphins need a guy who is clueless about needs and will just draft exciting players from the college ranks regardless of needs and muddy logic. I'd actually take average Joe from the streets of Miami over any candidate so far.

Dumbest thing I've read all year!

I agree with most but letting the coach go. Yes, he's had 2 seasons and not much results. Look at this season, injuries to key players. No running game. Having the winning streak and getting back into playoff contention after the Incognito and Martin situation and having a chance to win games against playoff teams like Cincy and the NFC's number 2 playoff seed in Carolina. Having a chance to win with just 2 yards rushing against TB on the Monday game. Having Coach of the year considerations and fans want him gone and a total rebuild. I'm tired of watching my team lose and miss the playoffs too. I'm also sick of having to rebuild the team. WE JUST DID THAT when we brought in the big tuna. Firing of OC and GM may have not been the best move. Looking for Line coaches and possible LB's coach is what Ross needs to be interviewing for.

Lets relay the message to the new GM so we can have the same year we had. Not signing team needs will result in not being able to beat the buffalo bills, the jets and any other team that has a great pass rush. hence the majority of the league. Exciting players aren't so exciting when they can't get the ball. Although, screen plays should always be a check down during pre play progressions. Would have come in handy against those teams that we did lose to.

just because he was the assistant GM under Ireland.

JUST BECAUSE?

i am just going on what was planted to the media, and it said, "brian gaine was instrumental in evaluating talent for jeff ireland".

it was also said that "brian gaine is recognized around the league as one of the finest talent evaluators in the nfl"......... . not by anyone i have ever heard, ANYWHERE!! and if its so, then what? did he suddenly forget how to do it as soon as he hired on here? its a joke.

ok, you say "because he was under jeff ireland". YEAH!!! YA THINK? how did that work out for us over the last 6 years? and the way it sounds is they were a two headed monster, not so much as gaine was a nobody-flunky to ireland. it was said he was "instrumental" in his duties with JI. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN GONE!! HE AND IRELAND SHOULD HAVE BEEN THROWN OUT IN THE ROAD TOGETHER!!

not to many people think the talent acquisition for this team the last 6 years was any good. last thing i saw, within the last week, the finz have been the WORST drafting team over that 6 years span of the jeff and brian show. so its not just the fact he was "under" ireland, as a talent evalualtor HE SUCKED MAXIMUM ARSE!!!!! if these two worked together to bring the talent into miami then they BOTH should have been poop canned!!

its not "just because he worked under ireland", its because BRIAN GAINE [along WITH ireland] SUCKED AT HIS JOB AND MADE THIS TEAM A TALENT DESERT!!!! :tumbleweed:

BRIAN GAINE is the last guy i want as GM. he sucked at talent eval [the thing we need most], he is the last of the parcells circus performers AND he is a friend of and part of the dawn aponte hatchet squad.

when these kind of positions on a team open up, i prefer someone from the OUTSIDE comes in. one, because there are no click-alliances like there would be moving up someone from within the club and second, a fresh approach is brought in. it puts both players and fans on reset. a breath of fresh air.

TOM GAMBLE!!!!! thats a GM prospect.

So you would take a man with zero upper management experience over on of the up and comers in one of the best franchises in the NFL?

Yep. Considering he has little experience picking players…you damn right I am taking a Farmer or Ross.

all of them. Pioli is the best - look at the KC Pro Bowlers he drafted

Any GM that wants to keep our HC. This idea of getting rid of one of the pieces and keeping the rest has not worked. We need a complete house cleaning. We should have gotten rid of Ireland when TS was let go. Now that we are getting rid of Ireland we should get rid of Philbin as well. Philbin is not a leader of men. No way he should be HC after coming out so unprepared vs the bills in the first game at home with two weeks to prepare. Then with the season on the line in the last two weeks the team looked like they had never seen the team across from them. This staff is not what this team needs. Philbin would be a good OC but we need a HC. This team needs someone with fire in the gut. We don't have that right now.

What I do not like (IMO) about Joe is that he is not a players coach. He is a commander of sorts and the players are his troops. I am not saying that that is a bad thing. It just bothers me that he is not a bigger part of the players themselves... Too much discipline can, I think, can backfire.

I understand he didn't get the job done in KC

and that is subjective.

to arrive at that conclusion, one must know what his job entitled. what all he was responsible for.

i want a GM who is first and foremost all about identifying talent and is a DRAFT MASTER who not only knows WHAT player to draft but WHERE in the draft to take him!! something ireland was a COMPLETE FAILURE at!! like the year we needed safety help in the WORST way and come time for us to pick, there is EARL THOMAS sitting right there!! couldnt get anymore simpler than that. big need, best at the position in the draft, no brainer.

but WOOOOOAAAAAAAA!!!!!! HOLD YER HORSES!!!!!!! what does ireland do? trades down to the bottom of the draft and selects odrick. and the picks we got for the trade? i'm not sure their even in the nfl anymore. EARL THOMAS IS AN ALL PRO NFL SAFETY AND A REGULAR IN THE PRO BOWL. and our golden boy, JARED ODERICK IS, WELL, HE JUST IS NOTHING REAL SPECIAL. NOT REAL GOOD, NOT TERRIBLE. JUST A GUY.

i want a gm who doesnt do that kind of thing. i want one who doesnt trade UP and and then take practice squad quality players. that kind of drafting has KILLED US!!

PIOLI got the chiefs some pretty good talent. much more than the IRELAND/GAINE show did. is that why he was put out? or were their other parts of his job the owner didnt like? i dont know all the responsibilities that were part of his contract. was there a "dawn aponte" like situation in the chiefs offices? was he a victim? was he involved with the cap?

the chiefs coaching over the last 6-10 years has been AWFUL!! and that is a HUGE part of a teams success. take the 49ers. they were racking up top 5 draft pics for several years and were getting no where. then, all of a sudden JIM HARBAUGH comes in and take that talent [with one draft of he and gambles] and that team is a WINNER!! playoffs, superbowl, etc... .

so, all in all, i wouldnt cry my eyes out if pioli were the choice. not at all. TOM GAMBLE is still far and away my first choice, but, pioli is in the mix. much, much more than BRIAN "i got all that talent for mr. ireland" GAINE, thats for sure!

i to agree that some are being very short sighted on pioli.

...GM candidate in Ross' list?

I am not going to pretend to know how any of the candidates will fare considering that none of them have GM experience. However, I would be most disapointed if we hire Gaine. He seems like the guy we hire if everyone else says no.

Gaine and Khan are the two that I definitely don't want. I'll use the glass half full approach with any of the others.
