Here's where this team stands right now:
The Good
Our two losses have been tough road games against division rivals that had a lot to play for. The Jets were out to prove their first-week debacle at KC was a fluke and that they still had a team that could contend for the playoffs. Bad luck and bad timing playing them right then. The Bills were coming off a three-game losing streak -- no way they were going to lose a fourth in a row, at home, against a division rival. Bad luck and bad timing playing them right then.
The Bad
We don't have a strong enough offense to win road games -- period. The prototype road win by a strong team this year happened in last week's game between Philly and KC. Philly has offensive weapons all over the field that can bring them back from an early deficit on the road. We don't. Philly has a QB who can hit longballs downfield and burn defenses that are stacking 8 in the box on them. We don't.
So that's my dose of reality for Dolfans. In a nutshell, I think our two losses should be viewed in a more positive light because we were up against a lot of intangibles in both games. On the other hand, I'm seeing some major weaknesses in this team right now that make me think we probably can't play with the big boys in the league just yet.
