Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Let's get on a roll here to finish the season!
This is the first week for the next 4 weeks where all the teams ahead of us play eachother, thus knocking eachother down...
Disclaimer: This is assuming the Dolphins pound the Jets MNF, which although division games are always rough, should get us a W as the Jets are a complete disaster, minus their run defense. This also assumes we finish no worse than 10-6. Obviously, win out and we're in.
Browns @ Bills - We're rooting for the Bills. They're conference record (3-5) definitely hurts them for tie-breaking procedures. Browns, on the other hand, are 7-4 overall with a mediocre conference record (4-4). With the Bills winning, this would knock the Browns below us, ironically placing them just above the Bills (based on overall conference record).
Who I thinik actually wins: Bills. After the snow debacle, Bills fans are gonna be going crazy for this one. That Bills Dline will pressure Hoyer into being his usual inconsistent self.
Chargers @ Ravens - We're rooting for the Chargers. The Chargers final 4 games after this one is downright scary with games vs. Patriots, vs. Broncos, @ 49ers, and @ Chiefs. No way they finish the season better than us. The one x-factor for them is oft-injured Ryan Mathews who is back and he could give their offense a huge boost. Unforuntately, the Ravens have a great run defense. The Ravens remaining schedule is @ Dolphins, vs. Jaguars, @ Texans, and vs. Browns. I see the Ravens taking the 5th playoff spot. At the moment the Dolphins do have a better conference record than the Ravens however, (3-4 vs 6-3)
Who I think actually wins: Ravens. Hopefully Rivers can work some magic here but a West Coast team coming East for a 1 o'clock game never fares well. Perhaps that late game finish vs. the Rams will give the Chargers D some confidence but with the Ravens finding a nice RB in Forsett, I can't see the Ravens losing this one. Hope I'm wrong!
Saints @ Steelers - The Saints defense is atrocious. Rob Ryan will not stop trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. His defensive personnel is just not made for his exotic blitzes, yet he keeps trying and they keep getting burned. You take that plus Roethlisberger and his unique ability to extend plays plus the Steelers exceptional WR group, I see this as a long day for a Saints team that surprisingly is fighting for the NFC South division. The Steelers have the same conference record as the Dolphins (6-3) and at 7-4 they present a huge obstacle for the Dolphins playoff chances. The Steelers still must play the Bengals twice who have beaten the Steelers the last 3 times. They also play @ Falcons, and vs. the Chiefs. I for one will be a huge Bengals fan the rest of the year.
Who I think actually wins:Steelers. Roethlisberger and co. will be too much for the Saints defense. Then again, the Steelers did lose to the Bucs and Jets and almost lost to the Titans so who the hell knows with these strange Steelers.
Broncos @ Chiefs -This game is huuuuge for the Dolphins playoff chances. The Broncos MUST win this game. With a Chiefs loss, they will fall way down. They are currently occupying the 5th seed. With a loss, their overall record will fall to 7-5 with a conference record of 6-4. They will fall below us to around 8th or 9th. Ouch. The efficient Chiefs finishes the season @ Cardinals, vs. Raiders, @ Steelers, vs. Chargers. Manning will be throwing in some cold weather which has historically not been good for him and an efficient turnover-less Chiefs team with a strong pass rush is exactly what could work to beat the Broncos and their offensive firepower. Unfortunately for the Broncos, they may be without J. Thomas, Talib, and their starting LB Marshall. Yikes.
Who I think actually wins: Broncos. On paper, Chiefs look to have a good chance at this one but in reality I cannot see a team that relies way too heavily on one player (J. Charles) to beat Manning and his offensive firepower. Ware is good to go for this one, with he, along with Miller, should wreak havoc for Smith.
Assuming that everything goes according to how I think it will, which it never does, the Dolphins would be in 7th place going into a HUGE game vs. Baltimore.
