okay i dont know if this is gonna be merged with the rest of the satale traded, we got screwed on welker deals, but a new thread pops up on us getting screwed for welker.

WE ONLY TRADED WELKER ON PAPER. per se. we did not trade welker for satale and abe wright. it was the year of the famous poison pill contracts. well was an RFA and really didnt want to be here and we were not gonna pay him enough for what he had shown to make him want to be here. he got the 2nd round tender, if noone wanted him we wouldve gotten him for somewhere in the 1.5 million range for another year and then he wouldve outright left for UFA. the pats were gonna sign him to a poison pill contract we couldnt match anyways, in good faith (somehow) they just orchastrated a sign and trade deal with the fins and gave us an additional 7th. if we wouldnt have traded him we wouldve only gotten the 2nd round pic regardless.

yes i know the 7th rounder turned out to be nothing but we were gonna lose him anyways might as well have hoped to get a diamond in the rough.

so nooooo we have not got the crap end of a trade.

Your bringing common sense into play and a lot of posters here won't accept that. The fact is Mueller would have screwed up a top 10 pick if we had gotten one for Welker. Just bc Satelle was a 2nd rounder that started 2 yrs doesnt mean he's that good. Ginn was a top 10 who wouldnt have started in 3/4 of the NFL recieving corps.

Some peoples' bitching on the Welker trade is clueless.

Sometimes, teams just get painted into a corner.

So what should we do, kill ourselves? Every team has bad stretches we should consider the whole body of work with franchise and not dwell on just 3 or 4 bad years. Yes the Pats got the better deal with the Welker trade, they also got him using the poison pill. Besides, how many SB wins do the Pats have since we traded him? None and the Pats still need to cheat to win games, so honestly who cares about the Welker trade? The little turd wanted to be a Pat anyways I say good riddence.

pain youre not understanding where im coming from. this was directed to those who are saying now that the welker trade was a bust because we traded samson satele. i was just saying that he was as good as gone and we were not gonna be able to keep him. the trade was ONLY a trade on paper. we were gonna get their second rounder from them when they signed his as an RFA. so just for the people who are making a big deal saying we got the raw end of a trade that wasnt even really a trade

You remember when Wade Smith started all 16 games his rookie season?

NEXT GREAT DOLPHINS LEFT TACKLE, WADE SMITH!

We are the defending AFC EAST CHAMPS. That is all that matters. Screw the players on other teams. OUR GUYS went to the playoffs last year while Welker and the rest of the cheating POS's watched. No use crying over or on spilled/spoiled milk.

BTW G-Force, i think nicks is still projected early 2nd round pic, how do you think us trading down to the top of the 2nd to pick up nics and maybe get an additional 4th sounds. ive been wanting that guy since the bowl game.

and sorry i know thats a little off thread topic just saw him in your pic

The funny thing about this trade is it's still going.. so we haven't finalized the player for Welker yet...since we used his trade, a 2nd on Satele and now that pick is giving us a 4th and 6th, the jury is still out on how well that trade is doing for us..we didn't get the full value our first time around, but it did give us enough to get another try.. and the funny thing is we get 2 more draft picks to get it right... 1 guy for 4 draft picks, and he wasn't even drafted...that's not bad value in the real scheme of things.. So welker equals a 2nd and 7th, and a 4th and 6th..in different draft years to boot..

I don't see Nicks getting out of the 1st round. The draft is a tricky thing. If one team unexpectedly takes a WR other teams with that need will start reaching for WO's. After Macklin, Craptree, and Harvin goes everyone will be fighting for Nicks and Heyward-Bey. Their is 2 other Carolina Wo's making some noise though and Brandon Tate was the Heel in the heisman talks before the injury and was Carolinas #1 for 4 years. NFLN also reported that Brooks Foster may have been the most impressive at the proday. Foster ran a 4.4 and has the size and hands to possibly be a #1 as well. Would have been nice to have those 3 one more year. Butch has 3 all-americans coming in to replace them though.

My post wasn't directed at you, it's why I didn't quote you. I was generally speaking on the Welker trade.
