The world thinks we suck. What do they see that don't?

all of you are right....other than jerryD..... the moves by our owner have made us look broken. henne has looked much better and much more in command. this is going to be a carbon copy of last season, when henne plays solid we win. when he dosnt we dont. we were 7 n 9 last year and have gotten better on both sides of the ball. 3 wins is a joke... the only way that happens is if chad goes down with a broken bone..... god forbid.... we are better than most people think and i wouldnt have it any other way!..... GO PHISH!!!

Happy to see you love Fluffy & the Poopflinger. Only problem is, they're on MY SIDE!!! lol Ya don't stand a chance grasshopper!! Three-peat, baby!!

With the Harbaugh and Orton incidents still fresh in the medias mind, they have every right to snicker and pile on the insulting commentary. Until we start beating good teams convincingly, reaching the playoffs, we will not get any respect.

Why the Orton thing? The Dolphins never made the dude an offer so where exactly is the news from that whole event? A team can't do anything about the media running this way and that way with irrelevant nonsense...

Its mostly ignorance. I was reading ESPN the magazine and Charles Woodson and Hugh Douglas were discussing the Phins. They stated that the Fins had no speed on offense and had no talent on the defense outside of Wake. They mentioned Bush and Marshall almost as an afterthought. Do these guys study the rosters of teams before they make such ridiculous statements?
I can understand the doubts regarding Henne, but I don't understand dismissing the talent on the rest of the team. In this issue they have the Phins at 24 in the power rankings.

Must be why the Dolphins beat the Packers last year then

For mainstream media, yeah, it's probably what you guys are talking about. But better analysts see other, more reasonable things.

They see we have a killer schedule. We have the NFC East, which is arguably he toughest division in that conference. We also face the AFC West, which has some dangerous teams (whether they will be great or not is arguable, but that unpredictability is just the thing to worry about). At the very least San Diego is a very tough one. We also face the Texans (who are a mediocre defense away from running away from that division) and Cleveland, who's looking pretty solid right now. Plus our own division, which is pretty damn tough on its own (before you diss Buffalo, remember they won a close one and lost a close one against us last year).

They also see uncertainty at key positions. The QB, most notably, is as schizophrenic as they come. The running game is up in the air (Reggie Bush looks great but is prone to injury, Daniel Thomas hasn't shown much). The right side of the line is tentative at best right now. Our special teams coverage sucks big time.

They see a lame-duck coach (and he is, for now). They see a new OC that didn't have time to properly install his scheme. They see a DC that might just be thinking more about his long-term career prospects (resurrected thanks to the fantastic performance of his D) than about this season. They see a medical staff that is far below average. They see zero homefield advantage.

It's on the team to prove them wrong. But so far, their opinions are VERY much supported logically.

The Miami Dolphins and many of their fans settle for less. It's been that way for years. They get excited about insignificant successes when you consider the big picture. So-and-so makes the pro bowl. So-and-so can move up to 6th on the record books. We beat so-and-so and they were good recently, so let's just think more highly of ourselves. We're making progress in this area, so let's forget about how we are regressing in another. Basically, that way of thinking leads to nowhere and just keeps you afloat.

There are important decisions that must be made all the time. The players have to make those decisions on and off the field daily. The coaches do the same. And Miami has just been making the wrong decisions far too often to be contenders. They make excuses and settle for less. The fans do it too. It's been that way for years and years now. I wish it weren't the truth. But it is.

So the media will call it how it is. They won't give them any slack. Forget wishful thinking. They just keep it real. They are what they are. So if they somehow discover something that no one saw coming, Henne ends up being a runner at QB, Bush runs between the tackles an doesn't get injured, Marshall stays out of trouble and catches over 100 catches, Thomas ends up being a superstar, our secondary comes alive and is in the top 5 for INTs, Davis and Smith actually end up being the tandem to beat in the AFC, etc. If those things happen for real, then Miami will shock everyone and be in the playoffs. If they have surprises that aren't gimmicks, then they can surprise us. But you can't count on that. You would just be fooling yourself. They are what they are right now. And that is a team that no one expects to be over 8 - 8 and most people expect them to be less than that.

It all starts on MNF. If we beat the Pats at home (defend that homefield!) then all of a sudden the views will start to change slowly but surely. I could give a rats *** about what everyone thinks about our team, its what we do one the field that matters.

You mean the truth being that the Packers went 7-0 at home outside of the Dolphins game and still won the Super Bowl even with said injuries.

Go ahead though and act like you won the discussion all cool-like

Dunno about that......I believe with the exception of Clay Matthews returning to the team, the Packers ripped through the playoffs without any of their other injured players reinstated to the active roster. They also played half of the SB game without Driver or Woodson, both of whom faced us, and still managed to beat the Steelers.

No Nick Barnett, No Ryan Grant, No Jermichael Finley, No Mark Taucher for the Falcons to deal with. Essentially the Fins did in Lambeau what the Falcons couldn't do in Atlanta. < The reality is that it looks pretty much like apples to apples to me :idk:

When a team is decimated with injuries mid-season, it takes their replacements time to grow into their new roles, if they are capable of doing so. Taemi, the guy that filled in for Dallas Clark, was playing great by the end of the season, he wasn't close to that player when he first took over. For the Jets, Wayne Hunter got better as he went along after Damien Woody tore his achilles. The same was true of Green Bay. James Starks, Frank Zombo, Howard Green, Shields (the corner, forget his first name). They were much better players in January than they were in October. Case in point, the Packers scored 9 points against the Jets in the regular season. No chance we would have held them to 9 had we played them again in the Super Bowl.

What have the Miami Dolphins proven, to deserve anything but a crappy prediction?

They've proven they are a middle of the road team, NOT the 24th ranked team. Why are some of the teams ranked ahead of the Phins also not given these crappy predictions if it is all predicated on past performances? Your argument holds no water.

The dolphins were a very boring team last year so most analyst didnt even watch the phins. They are responding from what they know and the only news that we had the past year was the owner and coach debacle. We underachieved last year and went 7-9, so the losing prediction is lack of effort on the reporters making this prediction. They just say yeah Henne looked bad and the owner and coach look like a dysfunctional relationship. If the coaching staff do what they know how to do and the owner only worries about organization operations and not team management will have at least a good year.

I don't think they believe the upgrades have been enough to get us over the 7 1/2 win mark that Vegas gives us. The predictions have been correct for the past two years so good money is to be had by betting on the Pats and against the Dolphins. Looking at this Pic at Reggie Bush's arms shows me he's too Lean and will likely get injured. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/multimedia/dynamic/01069/bush-run_1069842c.jpg
You need some body fat at the RB position or there's nothing protecting muscles. Behind Bush we have unproven Thomas, and Johnson. We've had no QB upgrade. Our OC is not proven. So basically we've not improved in the public opinion.

how sad once a franchise everybody respected, one of the top 5 franchises in football. and we are a laughing stock along with the bengals. we deserve everything we are getting right now. we use to put a lot of players in the pro bowl, now its only jake long going, how pathetic
