The worst call I may have ever seen.

4th and 1, down by 10, 8 mins to go. For me, you go for it, even at your own 20.

So, why did not run a play, waste seconds and then burn a timeout?! Why not go for it, or failing that, if you decide to punt, don't waste the Time Out. Take a 5 yard penalty and save the time out.

This is the worst coaching I've seen! Or am I missing something?

I agree 100%. Totally gutless and moronic call. Let me clarify, I can somewhat understand the decision to punt with the amount of time that was still left and I even understand the logic behind trying to get a cheap first down by enticing the defense to jump offside. However, what made these decisions moronic was taking a timeout when it didn't workout.

IMO, once you burned the timeout, you sorta committed yourself to going for it. I mean, an argument for going for it outright could easily been made, but once the timeout was burned, it became a no-brainer IMO. You have to figure that Houston was going to burn at least 2-3 minutes (if they don't score) which only leaves you around 5 minutes. And you're still down 2 scores with only 2 timeouts remaining.

The Patriots essentially were faced with a similar call (albeit they were up at the time) and they went for it. They didn't get it, but you can easily see the difference in mindsets. The Patriots play to win, the Dolphins play not to lose. Sure, the Patriots have better talent .. I get that. But, still, in that situation your back is against the wall and at some point you have to decide to fight your way out. That was the time. And like usual, he pussed out and compounded the decision by burning a timeout.

When they shifted out of the run formation, I thought Henne was going to sneak it at that point. Get the defense to loosen up and then sneak it. I liked that play, but of course they never ran it.

It didn't surprise me at all. Game and time management have never been Sparano's forte. Not really sure what his forte is actually...

gutless and moronic, then i read about patriots. lol. thats the week that everyone questioned BB.

to me, this is a stupid thread designed to bag sparano. you all want to bag on sparano, you could find many other better things to pick on him for. like not getting his team prepared very well.

i thought henne was going to zip it out the gates in slot. no one was really covering him. im sure the rookie could dive forward 1 yard.
