This game was by far the worst coaching I have ever seen and I am using that term very loosely. First of all, Wanny looked like he was about to cry the whole game. He had his standard panicky look on his face. Compare that with Marvin Lewis who seemed calm, collected, and (gasp!) confident. Why was the line so bad at picking up blitzes and blocking in general. I mean did we not practice blocking training camp in practice. It seemed like none of our o-linemen knew how to block let alone who to block.Tony wise should have been fired after last year. Blocking isnt rocket science, I bet if we went to some remote african village and found 5 guys who had never played football, they could have blocked better. Also why did we stick with gordon for the whole game. Gordon was dancing around back there waiting for a hole to open up which it never did. We should have put in Henry and just told him to run straight. During the ESPN broadcast theismann had one good idea (I was shocked that theismann said something intelligient) he said we should max protect and go deep to chambers or booker. Of course we never tried this and we went a 2nd straight game with no deep attempts to chambers. Also feeley seems really out of sync with chambers. Gee maybe if feeley had been given more snaps with the first team he would have some chemistry with our #1 WR, but nah like dave says passing is overrated. And our playcalling was so predictable. Everytime we had an incomplete pass we would run the next play. And i am talking about in the first half when our line was blocking halfway decent. And with all this emphasis on running the ball you would have thought we would be able to muster at least 50 yards. The Jets had almost 200 on them last week and we couldnt even get a rushing first down.
EDIT- Someone mentioned this another thread and I was screaming at the TV for it. We rarely used the shotgun. I guess dave doesnt like these crazy new formations like the shotgun.
