Excuse me for my absence. I've been indulging in other activities. I still check in daily but I don't get lost in the barage of threads and posts about a single subject. But this article and the little I have read posted here on Finheaven has left me wondering if the opinion I have of the Daunte Culpepper movement is the something similar to the JFK magic bullet theory. What's your take on this?
Daunte Culpepper wanted out of Minnesota. Screw the contract. Screw the disgust with the agent. He simply wanted out.
Put yourself in his shoes. You barely know the new owner. You don't know the front office. You don't even know the new Coach. By all accounts in the local press, the general public despises the entire organization. And why wouldn't the public despise the organization? The organization has been a mess since they fired Dennis Green.
So you are from Florida. You see a winning college coach come into Miami and run the same offense that you are accustomed. This offseason you are staring a new offense and a total team rebuild in the face. In Miami, you could simply step in for your backup (Frerotte) and take over the reigns.
Now Culpepper wants to place a phone call to South Florida to gauge interest from Saban. Do you think Saban would take the call? Do you think he would be interested? Do you think Culpepper's agent might not have had the ballz to break the rules in something like this? So now Culpepper is his own agent. Culpepper makes the call. Saban knows Culpepper is leaving come hell or high water. Saban will not pay a 1st rounder for a two first rounder talent.
And now Brad Childress turns out to be a b*tch in every press publication he can (and she is a b*tch). I have never seen such public whining in my life.
