There are still two paths to the playoffs.

Now this is a long shot since the chargers would have to win out vs the donkeys, chiefs and raiders, but it is a possibility that I haven't seen mentioned.

I wouldn't consider that entirely unlikely. The Chargers are always a start slow, finish hot team that I never count out, but this year their conference record pretty much screws them unless both of us fail to get to nice wins.

I cannot believe some fans are writing off the Bills and Jets so quickly. Literally anything can happen in a rivalry game, and both of those teams hate our guts and would love to end our season.

We know this team is capable of blowing games to anyone, including a division opponent, but most of us can look at the schedule and know that to win against NE, it will take a near perfect game all around, while Buffalo and the Jets are not likely to play flawless games themselves. I still don't see anyone assuming anything, there is a difference between predicting what you think the outcome could be and thinking it's likely to happen. As today sadly once again proved, with this squad there is no assuming a win regardless of the score during the course of the game until time has expired and the final whistle has sounded.

The road to the playoffs still goes through New England. (And I REALLY hate saying that!) If Miami can't beat NE then they don't deserve to be in the playoffs. I think Miami should sweep the Jets, but it's possible that the Bills sweep Miami. If that happens, Philbin and his staff should be shown the door!

Miami to lose week 15 at home to NE who seemingly walk between rain drops for a win week after week...

The other games that matter in week 15 go something like this:

Baltimore to lose away to Detroit
Cincy out play Steelers
Denver continue the march against the Chargers
Carolina further dump the Jets out of contention

Week 16 rolls around and....

Miami exact revenge for that last minute FG to redeem ourselves adn keep the WC hunt going strong sitting now at 8-7 we are now ahead of Baltimore...

Baltimore lose at home to the Patriots who just cant seem to step wrong, even when they do...7-8

The Jets go 7-8 with a win over the Browns at home

Cincy are 11-4 and win their div nicely as the 3rd seed
Patriots are number 2 seed
Broncos have number 1

Colts and Chiefs are in at 4th and 5th respectively.. Miami and Baltimore still looking to edge the 6th spot and it all goes to the final week 17 results..

Week 17

Miami v Jets - Miami make a clean sweep of it and go 9-7 with a crushing defeat of the Jets who play hard but the confidence is renewed in Florida with the Ravens on the back heel...

Baltimore v Cincy - The Bengals outplay the Ravens who have lost the last 2 games and are reeling from these and being given the run around by the Vikings in week 14...

Miami then meets the Bengals in the WC game..

Miami who have already beaten the Bengals succeed again here in the WC and go on to week 2 and the Broncos at Mile High.. The Chiefs outdo the Colts and meet the Patriots..

I forsee the Chiefs and the Dolphins getting dumped out in week 2 and then Manning v Brady = a Patriots win as Brady has the smarts against the choker Manning. Brady is currently 10-4 against Manning.

Brady plays in his record breaking 6th SB much to the annoyance and frustration of every other team and fan in the league...

NFC

If the Seahawks survive I suggest they will most likely meet the Saints at home in the championship game and with the crowd noise smash the Saints all over again making it a Patriots - Seahawks Bowl.. and I can only see one winner and it pains me to say it.. New England do it again....

The Detroit game is huge for the Lions, Ravens and Fins. It is almost as vital as ours with New England.

There is a much greater chance that the Dolphins lose in Buffalo then there is that the Pats lose to the Bills at home. And then there's the matter of getting past NE this week, something the Dolphins haven't done since 2009. With or without Gronkowski, the Pats are going to give them all they can handle and they need to be able to step up for once and get the job done.

More vital. If they lose to Detroit we may be able to absorb a loss to NE. Not that I'd like to go another week essentially tied while losing the tiebreaker, but there are more chances of us going 2-0 in the last two than the Ravens.

Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on.

The Patriots have been accused of bugging other teams lockers and hardly lose at home, then we have to deal with the refs, who typically support the home team and Robert Kraft.

I hope we win and the ball bounces our way.

one thing i hate is backing into the playoffs
i dont wanna get a feeling of a cheap seed
we wanna go into the playoffs with a vengeance and clicking on all cylinders
"absorbing a loss" what is that about ? we needa win these last 3 games and absorb some momentum riding a 5 game win streak into round 1

Just being realistic because beating New England is an exceptionally tall order. Multiple teams have had multiple score leads late in the second half and blew it. We had position to do it once this year and blew it. The Patriots don't usually give you that twice a year. It's not that I believe it's impossible, we've surprised more talented NE teams than the one we'll see, but we can lose to the Patriots and still finish 9-7. If we've done that after being 4-5, which means we went 5-2 in our last 7, that's not backing into the playoffs at all.

A win against NE this week will make life easier, but losing to the them is not a season ender pending results of the Baltimore game. That's the mindset I am taking into the game.

You're right but if we can't beat the Bills and Jets we don't need to talk playoffs at all. Like I said in another thread: we have a great chance to prove we deserve to be in the postseason. We'll most probably get the 6th seed if we win out. If not we don't deserve to be in the playoffs anyway. Too bad, the Browns couldn't hold on against New England and the Vikes couldn't against the Raves because if either the Patriots or Ravens had lost this Sunday, winning out would have guaranteed us a playoff spot.
