if we draft let's say Leinart or Young, it's VERY doubtful that we will be worth a crap next year. It's not very often a rookie is very effective their first year, check out Manning's stats from his first year.

That's why I think we go for a younger guy with NFL experience. I am all over David Carr if Houston is dumb enough to let him go. Maybe Kitna, maybe Harrington. One of those guys, with the right tools around them, can lead us to the playoffs. I'm not convinced a rookie can.

Carr has the tools, i take him in a minute. He is on a very bad team right now.

If we had the first pick in the draft and Bush comes out would you take Reggie over Matt Leinart? Hope we don't have the first pick but the way we are playing we could get it.

David Carr is a damn good QB. Tough and intelligent, but Houston hasn't given him ANYTHING to work with. My only concern with Carr would be his mental toughness. he's been beaten up so badly, does he still have anything left in the gas tank?

we can do both. draft a guy on the first day, and get a guy like carr.

I don't see why everyone is so high on Carr, he sucks. He has tools. He has Davis, Andre Johnson, Gaffney, the only thing holding himself back is himself.

I think that at least with a young QB the players and fans have some hope for the future. I hate to lose, but if we have a QB in there that has obvious talent and a promising future I can handle another tough year. It is just the feeling of hopelessness that I felt this past Sun. and that it seemed like the players felt that I want to avoid

I would take a 7-9, or maybe even 6-10 season if we get Lienhart. He will be so great and will make our team so much better for years and years to come i am willing to take another so so season.

We have the running game to take the pressure off a rookie
QB,if we have the QB most NFL ready, simialiar to what Pitt
did with Big Ben.

I don't know.... good argument.....

with all the needs exposed this year... I'm not sure if we're going to be contenders next year either.

We might do well to draft a QB.
teams are built through the draft... they are tweaked in FA.

and NO WAY would we be able to even think about selecting a first round QB and Carr. Too many other teams needs QB, for that to happen

Don't forget a horrible line.

Plus the fact that Johnson has been out most of the year

I would have the same concerns. Depending on the price tag, i'd give him a shot thou.

how do you know Leinart will be great?

Charger fans thought Ryan Leaf would be great.
Gino Toretta was going to be great, Charlie Ward was going to be great, Kordell Stewart was going to be great, Andre Ware was going to be great.

So many QBs have been great in college and STUNK in the NFL, it's a definite crapshoot.

I'd rather have a guy who has been in a few games, and draft a project QB later.

All the tools you mentioned with the exception of Gaffney have been hurt all year. Block for the man, and he would put us in the playoffs!
