Here, in chronological order, are three snapshots from Wednesday’s practice that explain why the Dolphins believe Mike Gesicki is going to be a good one:

1. He got one-on-one attention from Ryan Tannehill during a full period perfecting red-zone routes.
2. That work translated into a spectacular play a short time later , with Gesicki out-leaping a Dolphins defender, cradling the ball with his hands and helmet and getting two feet in for the touchdown.
3. When most of his teammates had already left for the locker room, he was still out there, drilling down on what is his biggest (and perhaps only) weakness: blocking.

I heard Gesicki wipes his ass with power rankings.

Me thinks this guy will keep track of all the teams that past on him. We might also have found someone with a serious grudge against Baltimore.

Hopefully leaning more towards Saints Jimmy Graham and not Seahawks Jimmy Graham.

It's exciting to hear and equally exciting to see the team hit on 2 potential super stars in Minkah and Mike. I feel thats what we've been missing from the past couple solid drafts, true super stars to push this team over. Hopefully that's what Minkah and Mike are future elite players, add a couple more on top of solid drafts and we may have something here.

Hopefully Tank is out there covering him getting in that extra work too cause he needs it.

Gesicki has All Pro potential, but I think this board will have a tough time being patient. With QB, you have examples of rookies playing at high levels (Marino, Roethlisberger, Ryan, Wilson, Watson), but I can't think of a single TE that's done the same as a rookie (possible I'm forgetting someone). With QB's, you can adjust schemes to emphasize strengths/limit weaknesses. It's harder to do with TE's, and there's much to learn.

Til I see it in a game I'll temper my excitement.

Gronk did, 10 TD's in his rookie year
