It has happened twice once with Damian Woody and then last year Kennoy Kennedy that they were scheduled to meet with Miami but something happened and they signed with Detroit. We can try to convince the Lions' GM to hire Rick Spielman, then he'll focus his attention on getting Fiedler and Feeley. Wouldn't be the 1st time they hired a Gm who's a commentator.

No contest here. The Lions are a mess, and who's Rod Marinelli? Who would want to go there? In Miami, there is no state income tax and the weather is great. Throw in a great coaching staff and a team that could make the playoffs next year and I think the choice is pretty clear.

If he chooses Detroit over Miami, then winning isn't important to him. I don't think Detroit will offer that much more than Miami. Just because they have more cap room doesn't mean they are going to overpay Brees.
So if Brees is a winner and not just looking to make money he will choose Miami. Detroit (like Arizona, New Orleans, Cleveland and New Jersey Jets) is NFL purgatory. I want Saban to find not just the best players, but the right ones (as Herb Brooks once said) i.e those that have a thirst for winning and refuse to lose.
Also there is no state income tax in Florida so that is worth an extra 6-7%.
