I just watched a small sample of about 5 Texas A&M games since that's what I expect our offense to basically look like. I was hopeful we would look a little like the Packers offensive system but I'm not seeing anything close. I keep on hearing we will be motioning a lot more and need receivers that can run the slant but I don't see much slants or motions for that matter at Texas A&M. What we will need is receivers that can run good routes because we will be throwing a lot of outs. I don't see Garrard or Moore fitting in this system, and hope the Fins can hold off until at least half way through the season before they put Tannehill out there.

With all those outs and comebacks, it's gonna be pick 6 city for Tanny. At least in the beginning. But to not expect growing pains would be foolish.

Yeah, I am not too worried about the outs and comebacks because that is college and this will be the pros they will alter the system to accomodate the higher skill level at the next level. Philbin will put his stamp on Shermans system as well...

NFL corners will feast on a young Tannehill.

This is the first spread option "WCO I've ever seen, I also did not see a lot of "WCO" pass routes. Tim Tebow did show that the spread option can wok in the NFL although Tannehill passed more then he run out of it. That Bubble screen they use off of the spread option is made for C Gates.

Hartime and Gates would be my starters btway. As soon as Gates pulls down a couple of long bombs he is going to get a safety deep on him. B Marshal was never a threat to take one long and IMO, that "Marshall was always doubled covered" story was a myth.

Clearly adjustments will be made in our handling and approach of him, but I noticed a predominate amount of his throws were to his left. Definitely needs to learn to look off defenders.

i think people will be surprised with the way Tanny can throw the stuff to the outside. I dont think it will be pick city for him on the hooks and outs as much as u think. That was what he was best at in college and throw alot of them with very good anticipation and timing and accuracy. the stuff in the middlw of the field worries me alot more. The 10 yard square in and things like that is were he really needs to move guys around with his eyes. On an out route or hook there isnt much minipulation he needs to do cuz its normally 1-1 corner V WR. He just needs to not stare the guy down and throw it to the outside and he'll be fine. Its what he does best as a QB, the stuff to the outside of the hash marks.

I hope we get to see him run some option once in a while. That boy can run!!!

One thing Gruden mentioned on QB Camp was Tannehill throwing picks on comeback routes. He said if the corner doesn't come out of his backpeddle, you check down. Hopefully, he remembers that little piece of advice from Gruden for the rest of his career.

You didn't see a lot of motion or slants in the Texas A&M offense because they didn't run the WCO. It was more of a Pro-Style with some Read-Option in it.

the OP has a point - remember Tanney "learned the playbook in 3 hours, much of the same terminology" that says that our system will be closer to A&M's last season than GB's.

Think about this. Tannehills number one WR in college is an UDFA.

Griffen had a first round WR pick in Wright.

Luck had a first round TE pick.

Weeden had the number 5 pick in the draft as his WR.

Tannehills receivers on the phins will be a large step up from College days and its still our weakest area.

Also, Philbin is the head coach... The offense will not be the same as Texas A&M's offense but a combination of Philbin and Sherman and custom-made to some players we have like Reggie Bush, Charles Clay, Bess, Hartline, etc...

I see the exact same thing. His timing and arm strength on outs, hooks and comebacks are by far his best throws. He throws his worst toward the middle of the field. He just isn't seeing the field as could as he should at this point. He is good at windows on the slants and I saw a few nice throws on skinny post but not as many as I would like. But I will say this, if he doesn't improve his deep throws those outs and hooks will get jumped because DBs can just sit down on them and dare him to beat them deep. Someone as smart as Revis will be able to pick even the most perfectly thrown out if there is no threat of getting beat deep.

I agree with your thought but disagree with your conclusion. It is very true that he had no one to throw to, but throwing to WRs in college that were less talented than the DBs covering them is exactly what he will have here at the next level. He will be in exactly the same position, not any better IMO. The DBs will be more talented than his WRs for the dolphins as well. I see it more as a wash.
