Things might end ugly for Manning and Colts

all this doesn't matter. He will be cut anyway and we'll go after him but is going to cost a ton to get him and we won't be able to get anyone else in free agency.

Ozzy rules!!

If Irsay continues this act and the climate in the club becomes toxic, it could become a realistic possibility that Luck will try to force his way elsewhere...

I was just thinking this... Irsay would be ignorant to think he would win a PR battle with the fans and media against Peyton freaking Manning, one of the most, if not the most, beloved QBs in the league. If it gets too nasty I could totally see Luck saying "no way", as he should, with an owner like that.

Archie and Oliver were teammates on Houston and long time friends. Peyton has advised Andrew on staying in school. If Irsay demonizes Peyton he's gonna piss Archie off and considering his relationship with the Lucks and his own past actions defying Spanos, I don't think that would end too well.

Irsay has to know this, maybe his big shot ego is blinding him to these facts, but i'm sure he has advisors that are letting him know he needs to tread lightly just for these reasons.

Also interesting to add, if Peyton is healthy and decides to come here he would get two shots at Brady and get to play at Indy next year.

Does this remind anyone of the end of Marino's career?

I thought the same thing when I read the article, but the Colts situation is much worse. Irsay is handling it poorly, whereas Huzienga/Wannstadt coaxed Marino into retirement and didn't make a public spectacle of it. Irsay will never win the public relations battle IMO.

absolutely this could lead to a repeat of the rivers/manning draft day or even lead to RGIII being the first one off the board, assuming he blows people away on his workouts.

I doubt Peyton will retire unless he absolutely has to. He had an amazing game and season the last time he played...you think he would retire even if he felt good just to retire as a Colt? No way. I hope they make the decision right after the super bowl.

I would watch out for the Titans though....he lives in Tennessee and if they show any interest then they become the favorites. If they don't show interest, I bet Dolphins and Redskins are favorites out of the gate. I know Arizona is a good one, but he would be so far from his home...they'd need some extra incentive.

The Irsay's are the scourage of the NFL, sneaking out of Baltimore at midnight. I only makes sense after what they have been through to dump one of the league's most popular players, not to mention that Peyton built that f***ing stadium that they will play in in a week and a half. Classless and clueless are the Dolts with the headless horseman in charge.

Hey Jim Irsay, you call Peyton Manning a "politician," but your daddy Bob was the one who took a big dump on the entire city of Baltimore by moving the team out of town in the middle of the night. Peyton has way more class than you you sleazebag!!!!

Robert Irsay was a jackass, but that was a desperate move. Baltimore had just passed a law that basically enabled the state to take the Colts from him via eminent domain. Here's a good article about it.

Irsay removed everyone who would argue that keeping P Manning a few more years was the right move - all Peyton's backers munus the fans are GONE - spells the end for the guy who was on all accounts the Coach and OC and built the town up on his game - put his money where his mouth was - into hospitals and charities dude was simply the consummate pro
