The wife and I will be fly to Miami the weekend of the Buffalo game in November. This will be her first time in South FL (Yay!), and my first ever Dolphins game (double Yay!). We will be flying in early Saturday morning, and leaving Monday evening. We are staying on the beach in Hollywood.

I haven't been to Miami in 20 years. I was only there 3 years. Needless to say, I don't remember a whole lot about the area, and I'm sure some things have changed. We all know that Miami is a unique place, especially compared to someplace like Dallas.

Since this is my wife's first trip to Miami, I'm hoping to do a couple of things that would give her a since of the unique flavor, sites, and experience of being in Miami without breaking the bank.

For example - since our flight gets in around 9am on Saturday but we can't check in the hotel until 3,i was thinking about driving down A1A, let her see the sites, and end up at the Bayside Marketplace. Let her see all the boats. Another this I wish we could do (time probably won't allow it) would be to take her down to Key Largo and eat at one of my favorite spots, Sundowner. Let her experience fresh seafood while sitting on the dock.

So you guys have any suggestions? Again, I want her to feel like she's in a different world, while keeping in mind our limited time, and be budget-conscious. My goal is that she will love it so much that she will want to make this an annual trip. :chuckle:

Edit - we aren't heavy drinkers, and getting a little too old for the night life stuff, so thinks like bars and clubs probably won't be for us.

Yeah wasn't sure which forum to put it on, since it's more about the trip and less about the game. We are planning on stopping by the tailgate.

I haven't been "home" in quite a while but when I do, I never miss the drive through and a stop in Coconut Grove and then south on Old Cutler. Just beautiful!

I haven't been back in a while either.
What do you like to do ?
Fine dining or just some local hot spots ?

I remember the name Coconut Grove, but I don't remember anything about it other than I saw a play there. What's there to do there?

You went to the coconut groove playhouse. I saw hair and jesus christ superstar there

Tons of places to eat and drink. Lot of tourist shopping for the wife. Sailboats and the ocean in the back ground.

Go to Fishing Headquarters in Ft. Lauderdale for some very affordable reef fishing. They do the hard work and you just fish all morning or afternoon.

First thing you have to do is make sure you don't take the wrong exit and end up in the wrong hood or we'll never hear from you again.

Lol reminds me of a time that my buddy left his phone in an uber in Miami, and then recruited my best friend and me to drive down to Miami from West Palm Beach the next day to retrieve it.

He tracked his iphone to a house, which ended up being in a pretty sketchy area. We get there and the phone is in plain view in the back of the car. We knock on the door and nobody answers. So now the 3 of us are stuck waiting outside this random person's house for almost a half hour until someone came to the door and unlocked the car.

One of the few times in my life I thought I should have been strapped.
