Things we learned about the Miami Dolphins from Richie Sr.

I did. It doesn't change my opinion in the slightest. He sat down to draft a letter, probably had his wife proofread it and make suggestions, and then made a bunch of changes. At least, I know that's how it works in my parents' household.

If anything, a lot of stuff in that letter very much corresponds to things Richie's dad has posted here (about growing up in Jersey, etc.).

This whole situation is easily the most bizarre thing I have seen connected to pro sports in my entire life. Just weird, weird, weird. Truly a sports story for 2013.

I still think Manti Teo beats this story... but this comes close!

Ted, I dunno when this was updated on Deadspin, but I just visited and it's self explanatory. Should eliminate any doubt.

Update: Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald spoke to the FinsHeaven board administrator. idrd1994 registered with a date of birth of 12/14/1949, which matches Richie Incognito Sr.'s birthday.

It's definitely him. I mean, if his calling the suspension before it was announced wasn't enough of a tip off, Walrus did some solid internet detective work there. It's him. Spare us the "maybe it's not really him" stuff. It's him.

As absurd as it is, I think this team might actually play better now. The OL was killing this squad and with all of this **** coming out? No wonder.

Maybe I am just floored that the Sr could actually come in here and spew the venom like that. Easy to see where the attitude from Jr has developed. You know rotten apples don't fall far from the tree.

Didn't Ritchie JUST DO a media piece a few weeks ago where he says he did loads of drugs and was suicidal before

he turned his life around??????????

Said it before, I'll say it again. Good job Philbin/Ireland emptying the locker room of leaders. I know the $ for dinner thing happens everywhere....but do we think the rest of this stuff would've happened with Jake Long, Reggie Bush and Davone Bess in the locker room?

The emptying also undoubtedly put the thought in the back of many of the players minds that if they speak out, they could be next. Explains why this grew out of control as well.

Wow...did we learn that "Free Hernandez" does drugs!?
Who would have ever guessed that!?

Not sure how much Pouncey was in on all this, or not, but I do think our line will play better now.
I mean last week was OK without Martin and after Richie got hurt.

The rest of this season is going to be brutal, internally.
Who knows what is going to come off all this and how it will play out in the off season...

I admit I wasn't sad to see those guys go, but it does make you wonder if things would have gotten this far with them still here.

For the record, Hayden Fox wanted Brian Billick or Mike McCoy and loved the idea (but understood it would not happen) of Jeff Fisher getting hired. lol.

Cool story man!

This is a team utterly devoid of leadership at all levels. If these things are found to be true, Ross may have no other choice but to clear out this regime and install a figurehead for this team that displays strong leadership ala Dan Marino or Jon Gruden.

With all of the talent on this team (that will be here after the cleaning house), we need 1 man: Tony Dungy. If ever a man made for restoring credibility, providing stability, being a face of the organization, running an entire organization and able to lead by example and be a mentor to every man on this team....

never a man was better for this organization than Tony Dungy.

This is not a money problem. This decision is about how much do you want your team to truly fix its problems. One true leader solves all of our problems.

But this will be the hardest sell of Ross' life. Dungy is a very planned man. And this is not a situation where we pick the guy with the best plan and let them wow us. We have to wow them. Ross has to show this team, this organization, this owner and every resource the Miami Dolphins can call upon wants this man and wants to build a respectable program. It's all or nothing. Money and power are not the problem. Showing a 5 - 10 year plan of investment and dedication from local businesses is needed to lure a man such as Tony.

We need a man of his stature to take the good pieces we have and develop this team, organization and fan base. We need more than just winning. We need someone who cares about the Miami Dolphins. And it starts with us.

I don't think Dungy will ever coach again. I saw his facial experession when they were showing the clip of Kubiak collapsing last night, and that looked like a man content to be in the media, and not on the sidelines.

In no way do I disagree, but I have to hope for the sake of my team he would consider it. This franchise needs saving. And he is one of the few able bodied men in the NFL I can think of that has every tool needed for the job. His role as mentor is unquestionable. Troubled players around the league seek his guidance. The man oozes confidence and intelligence. He's never quick to judge and he believes in people.

We need a leader of men.
