Think our oline is bad? The Jets are in trouble..

Come on junc. Be real for a minute. The Jets are a really good team. Good defense, real good running game, they even have some good targets in the passing game (Holmes/Keller) but they have a below average QB who almost single-handedly loses them games. Lucky for him, last year a lot of those back breaking INTs got dropped. Take the Browns game for example, all he had to do was NOT throw a pick and they likely win the game on a FG, well he throws a perfect pass to the DB who lucky for him was already running for a pick 6 before actually catching the ball. He threw at least 2 easy picks against the Dolphins that Sean Smith dropped I believe.

I bet on games to make money on the side so I watch all the games either live or on nfl rewind which is nice cause it cuts out all the commercials and in between plays and Im telling you with no bias at all that Sanchez is a below avg QB. I wouldnt want him on the Dolphins anymore than I want Henne's worthless *** on the Dolphins. The sad thing is, Henne actually has a higher ceiling than Sanchez who doesnt possess any special talents. Below avg arm, wayyyy below avg accuracy, below average decision making. The only thing he has going for himself is he has all the talent he could ask for around him and he has some mobility. Thats it bro. He's below average in every sense.

Interestingly enough on my way home from work yesterday evening Trent Dilfer was on the radio discussing the Eli controversy and they asked him about Sanchez. he said Sanchez is around the 10th or 11th best QB, he is someone who gets it. Someone who understands it's not all about fantasy #s. too many "expert" don't and too many fans follow those "experts".

for the record, Kris Jenkins on NFLN just said that he doesnt think the Jets are going to push for super bowl. Stated depth and probs on OL (depth/injury), and older guys on O in Mason, LT, ect. He thinks they still have a good team but he says more regressed due to age and not upgrade. This is my exact feeling. Yes, im a homer, but I also feel this way.

The one X factor has been they just get in and play up in playoffs. Problem this year is I see us beating the Jets, and poss twice! I think Henne likes playin Jets. HE HE HEHENNE BEAT THE JETSSSSSSSSSSSS!

You may be able to beat us once...if we rest starters in week 17.

To me, it comes down to Plexiglass. If he has a big year, then all bets are off. But something about what Parsells said about 2 1/2 yrs is a long long time to be on vacation in NFL.

It comes down to Sanchez. if he can take that next step and play the reg season the way he does postseason we could get a home game or 2 in january and make a run.

I think the Jets "year" was really last year.

Sucks that they blew it.

On paper this years team is not as good, but if Sanchez take a jump from 2nd to 3rd year, it might be enough to compensate. I dont see superbowl (Pats are going to be to good) but 10-12 wins is possible.

On paper we are better assuming younger guys are progressing.

QB- better
RB- better
TE- better receving, worse blocking
OL- same
WR- slight downgrade
DL- better
LBs- same
DBs- better
STs- same

Overall we are better on paper

it is always fun beating the jets though id trade 2 losses to the jets if it meant winning the division.

i see the dolphins and jets equals at this point both defenses are great..
both quarterbacks weak i like dolphins receivers more i like the jets running game more
its a toss up who will be second place in division..

Allow your D to perform in a big game before you call them great, the Jets D has helped us reach back to back ttile games and I wouldn't call it great.

Anything can happen but on paper we are clearly better.

Thank you for your pity, I could use some and I appreciate the very few times you post yuo take time to comment about me rather than about the topic at hand.

You guys never learn, every year you will be better than the Jets. I feel bad that you guys get your hopes up every year that we will suck and you will be great.

well, couple things.

Brad Smith gone.
LT year older after his comeback year. (not necc a downgrade, but I am expecting the usual foot prob by week 7.)
Jets just took one FA big name and replaced with another "older guy". Yeah Mason is a nice respectable receiver, but he is old and friggin retired two years ago, then came back.
Their drafts have not been deep or real big gains. I include Sanchize in there cus he was high draft pick and people still comparing to Henne.....he just threw another quick slant! LOL
Defense I just do not see being as nasty. It will still be very good, but holes will be found. Just not seeing depth like we have. Thinking about the long season here.

brad smiths overrated...especially now with this new kickoff rule his returns are gonna be nullified with most kickers kicking the ball deep in the endzone...yeah he could qb the wildcat and do all the gimmick offense plays well but buffalos gonna find out that was money not well spent if they paid him like he's an nfl #2 wr...

as for lt if the jets limit his carries he should be alright but imo its time for it to be the shonne greene show...d mason is old but that guy keeps himself in tremendous shape and these young bucks sleep on him and all he does is make plays

as for the d again only thing i still don't see is an edge rusher who can win one on one matchup consistently...so much of their pressure comes from the blitz if they could sit back and play coverage while an elite edge rusher provided pressure they'd be rediculous...its the one true need they still haven't filled...and aaron maybin...thats not the guy either but i don't blame them for trying

i just look at the league and its teams as objectively as i can...this jets team is stout and they walked into the patriots home field in the postseason and took them to the woodshed last year...no reason to think they can't go into any building and come out with the w

Yes Junk I am a Lurker/Cyber Slacker... I dont need to discuss thread topics in here I have *Really Life Friend*...Do you? I think your post count could answer that...

so now 2 of your rare posts are commenting on me rather than the topic.

yes nyjunc (great name BTW the jets are garbage) the Dolphins will win more games than the jets.. going to 2 arc championship games isn't even the equal to the bills losing 4 supervisor. Have fun fighting for a wild card spot again against the dolphins.

We haven't fought for a WC spot w/ the dolphins in recent years so how would we do it again?

Junc did u really say your DLine is better than ours? Get real
We already discussed the LB's . . . we have the elite pass rusher you guys lack . . . the ILB slight upgrade in your favor cannot overcome that.

Your front 7 is not better than ours. Your blinded.

Even if your younger guys "progress" you aren't better on the DLine than we are.

I think we definitely seem to have more depth at WR . . . Plaxico is a big wildcard, but it would be expecting alot for him to dominate after serving 2 years in prison . . . but I woulnd't discount it.

I agree the key in all of this is QB play . . . and this isn't to praise Sanchez as a great QB, because I really don't believe he is . . . but he is surrounded by a team that is well coached, a real good OLine and a great defense . . . . and to his credit, he has made plays when they counted the most.

You won't convince me that he would be a great QB in Miami in 2009 or 2010. We weren't as good on defense, the OLine was in shambles and the coaching wasn't nearly as good.

That is the category you forgot to add: coaching - Which you guys to date have been clearly better.

I was comparing the 2011 Jets to the 2010 Jets.

Comparing our teams:

QB: edge Jets
RBs: Jets
OL: Jets
TE: Jets
WRs: even(our ceiling is higher, your guys are safer).

DL: Miami
LBs: even
DBs: Jets

K: Miami
P: Miami

STs coverage/returns: Jets
coaching: Jets

experience: Jets

We have a decent sized edge. Miami has talent and if some of their questions are answered positively they can compete for a playoff spot but they aren't an AFC contenderlike the Jets are.
