I've had a feeling for what ever reason, that Feeley wouldn't catch on with our new team. I had a strong feeling Saban never saw Feeley in his overall plan, and can remember thinking about it after this... Before the season started Feeley was saying that he was going to be the starter, because Saban said so.. Come to find out... he had never even talked to Saban and was assuming he was going to start, based on a rumor he had heard on the radio(I think). If your the new Head Coach.. Wouldn't you want to talk to your "Starting" Quarterback a bit before the season gets going? The example I gave happened right around the first mini camp I believe, the perfect time to have a little chat. During the preseason Feeley sealed the deal and I'm sure many picked up on his additude change.
Anyhow... the thread title is "Thinking Ahead"
If Saban knew he wanted to deal Feeley or even had the feeling.. and from what I suspect, since before the season started. Why wouldn't he have just kept Feeley listed as the 2nd stringer and give him the same ammount of reps as Sage. Feeley is what he is, but one thing is for sure. His trade value dropped big time from what our original price was. Why not try and squeeze as much as possible with every trade. I'm still a bit upset at the fact we got only a second for Surtain, when I think it was Buhcannon was traded to the Texans for a 2nd and a 3rd. Saban tried to get more once that trade happened like the night before Surtain was traded, but he should have relized that Surtains trade value was higher than a second. I mean come on.. We're talking about Pat Surtain.. The guy that had the most INT's in francise history. He might not have had his best season before he was traded or fit the plan or cap, but he was IMHO worth more than the second. I'm still not sure how much Feeley is worth, but it was never gonna work out here.
BTW... I'm a big Saban fan and like what I see as his vison for the team. We're gonna be a damn good team, but it will take time to get there. Everyone makes mistakes, even if everyone Says he can do no wrong. :)
