thinking of getting a #20 jersey because...

Watch the G.Bernard crazy TD run again. Jones was jogging across the field. Pitiful effort!
 
For anyone new to football this is what happens when you're a risk taking safety.. Those "ballhawk" type safeties people gush all over get exposed just as much as they get the to's. You want to take risks then you have to deal with the consequences, simple as that. You have his way of play then you have a player like Clemons that stays extremely solid his whole career, but never gets the attention because he may make less ints.

I'd take the Chris type over the "ballhawk" any time and every time. Prevention is very underrated in this game right now.

I won't even speak on whether or not he's playing less harder due to his recent payday because it's irrelevant.. He's getting beat, period.
 
For what it's worth R.Jones has been asked to play a different role in this years defensive scheme which was reported late preseason.You'd thing Coyle could find a happy medium between how they used him last season and this.

Also IMO,Jones in the next few games will get a few saftey/db blitzes and still has a half a season to make some big plays.



Dont give up on him....

I wouldn't go that far. Ed Reed was the epitome of a ball hawk safety. I wouldn't say he was the type to get beat. Earl Thomas, more of a ball hawk, not the type that's just going to get beat. It's just that he's not playing good football. Playing not to lose and playing to win are two completely different things, and one of them results in more bad than good (I think you know which one I'm talking about).
 
Jones and Wheeler are the two biggest disappointments on our D, bar an injured Wake strugging. Clemons has been far superior to Jones who should be a leader on our D.

That's different because you're talking about rare talent and like the 2nd/3rd best safety to ever play the game. Reed is a freak of nature and I would've taken him over any safety in the NFL (before he got old). Thomas is on another level as well, but he gets beat from time to time. There are not many ball hawk safeties that don't get beat in the NFL. I can remember just 1 play where Clemons got beat on a long pass in the past 3 seasons. Jones is playing like garbage because he's taking too many chances out there (jumping routes instead of covering safe, rushing to the line for a tfl just to get blocked instead of waiting for the play in front of him etc). These days his mistakes are a lot more noticeable.
 
The only thing good about Reshad Jones is he'll likely bounce somewhat upward later this season and/or during 2014. He can't continue to be this inept.

I was going to mention the Bernard play. Jones wandered downfield and mostly fell down rather than aggressively try to prevent the touchdown. Grimes wasn't exactly at full speed during that pursuit but at least he had the excuse of missing the play in the backfield and assuming his services were no longer required.
