- we are incapable of scoring in an offense that requires a dominant running game to work. in order to move the ball 70 yards we need 12 plays or more. when you're struggling with consistency and execution, the more plays you have to run the more opportunity you create for mistakes. there is no big play threat because the big plays in this offense come from trickeration and max protection playaction bombs. they are "all or nothing" plays, and thus far all we've gotten from them is nothing. we don't make the opposition defend the entire field...ever, which makes it that much easier for them and that much more difficult for us. it's time to get peele and barnes off the field and revert back to the linehan spread offense we ran last season. you know, the one saban said would not change even though our OC's did? he lied...
- it took injuries to 3 of our CBs sunday (daniels, goodman and lehan) for jason allen to finally see the field defensively. what makes this even more frustrating is the play of travares tillman. tillman committed 2 penalties and was abused by the jets. he is completely lost out there, and whats worse is he's lost without talent or ball skills. so, does that mean allen might crack the lineup? nope, yeremiah bell will start this weekend against the packers. it's one thing when a talented veteran secondary puts a rookie on the bench, but i don't think anyone will argue that is the case here. just how bad is our #15 pick? if you're good, they make room for you. the only room being made for jason allen right now is on the bench.
-after 10 games it appears houck has found the best 5 combination for the offensive line. mcintosh is our best pass blocking LT, and shelton and carey on the right side combine to make a pretty decent run blocking tandem. the only question is whether james can get his act together at LG. he's been hampered by a knee injury, but i'm not sure that is the main reason for his poor play this season. i wonder if it weren't for james' contract would berger be in there right now.
