how the hell you are a running team and you come out passing the in the 2nd half you are running team stick with what you do best which is run the ball and run the clock out to keep the saints offense off the field

I was thinking the exact same thing... I kept saying to myself why are we trying to outscore the saints in a shootout? That will only lead to a loss. This loss makes me question if Sparano has what it takes. It reminded me of the great 2 min drill we ran against the colts.

The reason we were trying to outscore the Saints in a shootout was because our mistakes on both offense and defense, plus the reality that the Saints offense is incredibly good, had made it a shootout whether we wanted it or not. And while we shot out of the gate with a couple big runs, our wildcat was obviously a priority for the Saints to prepare for and they hammered it pretty much every time, while our conventional rushing offense wasn't generating positive yardage at any time after the mid second quarter, except for one chip shot TD from Ronnie.

We weren't going to be able to beat a team like the Saints with just one dimension. It worked early on, and then stopped working at all. The impetus was on the passing game to get something done, but unfortunately we have guys in key spots (WR, TE) that have made as many negative plays this year as positive...no exaggeration.

Its funny you mention the Colts game. If I recall correctly, the same player who botched a great pass today (which gave the Saints the window they needed to get back in the game) had the game winning pass in his hands and dropped it. I can't fault coaching for that, I can only say that our roster is still not as full of NFL caliber talent as it should be because of years of coaching changes and poor drafting. I 100% agreed with the way the coaching staff called this game, and you guys just have to realize that some fluke plays and poor performances from key players gave a vastly superior roster a chance to win this game.

I agree. We got away from our gameplan. Just like the Giants did, except they sucked the whole game.

However, Ginn dropping every pass didn't help us in the least either.

our conventional run offense didnt generate much!? LOL we ran like 6 running plays out of our conventional offense.. wtf. 3 of them converted on 3rd and 1 and one of them was a 65 yd toss by ricky... We need to run more out of our base offense. And Fasano dropped a critical great pass by Brown late in the game.

they should have started running it up the middles once Ellis went down, Miamis been wanting to run it off the edges, but with their middle hurting they should exploit that weakness and beat it, The Saints were doing good against our run, but we are, or where, not so sure right now, the #1 running offense in the NFL, we can beat their run defense, they just gave up on it too early, they need to give Ricky the ball more, he had only 9 carries on what looked like a great game for him

the coaching staff sure needs to get there heads out of there collective *****. Piss poor decisions were in abundance today.

Honestly the fact that we had like 130 yds rushing in the first half, when it was actually a game!!! and didnt continue any thing of the sort in the 2nd half is just wrong. Conventional offense or wildcat RUN THE F'IN BALL!! AND RUN IT HARD
