this could be a reason of our downfall

we are second in the league in pass attempts
and we are 24th in rush attempts
while our offense is 21st in hte nfl
obviously the pass isn't working so i say its time to show some rythm in the first half and score some points and stay ahead!

I do agree that we should be running more, but the problem is that our O-line isn't very good. We wouldn't score much if we were running. If we started running more with this O-line, our offense would look very much like the one under Wannstedt.

This again?

This is the old "More Rushing Attempts=Victory" error. You're mistaking a symptom for a cause. Teams that win tend to rush more than teams that don't. The reason is this: Teams that win get ahead early, as a rule. When you're ahead, you rush the ball. As a rule. Result? The winning teams have more rushing attempts.

Well if you fumble in the first drive or throw an INT and give 7 points. You'll probably pass a lot.

Edgerin James is one of the most accomplished backs in the NFL I think everyone would agree. Running behind a similar line he ran 36 times for about 58 yards. If Mularkey did this to Ronnie everyone would be calling for his head more adimantly than they are now. The problem is not the ratio of pass to run or vice versa.

The plays hes calling are too predictable. We need more draws, screens, end-arounds, flea-flickers etc. The Patriots seem to run a draw on 3rd and 6 and convert every damn time. Then when they deicde to throw on 3rd and long the defense has to remain honest and someone is always wide open. Now obviously the Pats O-Line is a little better, but you have to compensate by mixing it up enough to keep the opposing teams D guessing...thats all I have.

You're right. I was looking at Joey's and Daunte's QB stats yesterday and noticed something fascinating (in a sad, pathetic way) about Joey's passing habits. Here are his passing ratings scored by number of attempts. I couldn't find anything that jumps out at me in Daunte's stats. Joey's efficiency skyrockets once he gets past the 1st 10 pass attempts in a game.

Pass Attempts Rating
1-10.............36.3
11-20..........102.3
21-30............92.9
31+...............48.4

This reads like early game jitters and late game desperation. 3 of Joey's 4 INTs were in the 1st 10 pass attempts in games. So perhaps running the ball more early, even if that means reduced offense at first might be a good thing. On the other hand Green Bay has an average rush defense, but the worst passing defense in the league.

but u have to pass when your down most nfl team get the bulk of there caries late in the game when you up insted of having to throw alot to oick up some garbge points

Very Interesting.

Hmm, seems to me that you just described the offense under Wanny with Fiedler at the helm. Hmmmm....
