How in the hell can you give up 4 drives of 70+ yards in one game? How can you have 7 seven strait games where you give up an a score on their initial drive? How do you gameplan all week and give up a score on there first position? I dont get that. How many times are we going to throw out Reggie Howard out there for like 8 seconds and blows a play? All Finnerean did was a slant and he was no where near him. Finneran isnt fast. I cant understand how stupid this defense is. How many times is Madison going to hit someone when the play is over? He did it yesterday but this time he didnt get caught. He really doesnt care about not commiting that penalty. Outside of Taylor, Thomas, Traylor and Carter no one on this defense gives a crap.

this defense has been given the benifit of the doubt for way to long. They never make key stops. The only time yesterday they made a stop was at the end when Atlanta was trying to run out the clock.

We have a good line and a good linebacking group. It is just that our Secondary is really bad. A really bad secondary will make the rest of the defense look bad.

Fellas, they only gave up 17 points. The offense should have been able to cover that at home. They were on the field a long time and most of that is their own fault but when your offense cant control a little clock... Still, it was only 17 points.

Its called not having top cover guys at CB anymore. Weve been spoilt with Surtain and Madison in their prime and now reality bites. We cant address our defensive backfield in 1 season. Next season yes with Poole back and Daniels with a yrs experience under his belt but it takes time to get players in. Too many ppl imo expect too much too soon.

they never make the key stops except for that one time when they made a key stop? there were two key stops yesterday, IMO: the fourth down stuff and the taylor sack. the defense, for all its faults, kept atlanta from scoring a lot of points yesterday and got the ball back for the offense with a chance to tie the game. you can ask for a better third down rate, but you can't accuse them of not trying and you can't accuse them of total failure. that game was one play away from overtime.

another problem for the defense is this: the offense doesn't stay on the field. that will wear you down during games.

they do deserve their criticism. the first drive scores have to stop, but they need to get a little help from their offense.

Our Defense is not bad it is what it is, its old and our secondary is very suspect. Our line is great and linebackers okay this defense will still win games for you but your offense has to pass more that 100yards and make use of opportunities given to them. and score. Im proud of our defense yesterday they played lights out they were hitting hard and trying really hard to stop the Falcons but the Falcons is just too much IMO they're not 5-2 for nothing and also didnt lead the league in rushing for nothing. so again im proud of our defense that they only gave up 17pts and still handed our Offense opportunities to win the game.

I agree with what you say about the defense. They are struggling to get off the field on 3rd down. But to say they don't care is dumb, I'm sorry....it just is. Everyone wants to go 16-0 and win the Super Bowl. It just doesnt happen for everyone. There are holes in the secondary which I believe is the primary reason for not getting off the field on 3rd downs. I'm sure they care very much but they just can't get it done. I do agree with the comment on Madison a little though, not sure why he does what he does because it comes in bad spots all the time. But other than that, I think the D cares.

Totally agree.

That is right. They gave up 17 points against a good offense when Vick is an inaccurate QB.

Considering how bad the offense was we should be thankful the D only surrendered 17 points. They are not the problem. Gus Frerotte missing wide open receivers is the problem.

That's ridiculous.
Yesterday alone we held them on 4th and inches, stopped them on a key third down (JT's sack) to give us a chance to win the game.
Against the saints we recorded six sacks, and stopped the run entirely.
No key stops? How about Schulters intercepting Delhomme at the end of the game to set up the game-winning field goal?
Are you forgetting all the goal line stands? What game have you been watching?

The scheme should be called into question as much as the players....
how many times do we have to watch miami play "off" receivers so they can make uncontested receptions?

Part of why miami struggles on 3rd down offensively is teams press our WR's but Saban feels his way is best.
