With the additions of Kevin Carter, Vonnie Holliday, and Roth we now have alot of depth at DE. You also throw Znognia, Chester, Bowens, and Seau, who all missed alot of last season, back in to the mix, and we have one of the top front 7s in the NFL. I also love the prospect of this team playing a Patriots style of defense up front. I deffinitly expect to see Roth and JT to play some downs at OLB opposite of Seau. JT has already proven he can drop back in coverage like a LB, so teams won't know if Zach, JR, or JT is the designated 4th rusher. I think we could aslo see 3-4 packages with JT, Roth, or Holliday on the outside with Carter and Znognia at DE, and bowens or Chester at DT.

We did lose Surtain, but I don't see this D taking to much of a hit from this. Edwards is a proven starter, but a better nickel back. Howard could start for half the NFL at DB. Poole I think could very easily have a great camp, and show that he deserves to be right in the mix with these three.

If you look at our division our front 7 on D are he most important. Dillion, Martin, and McGahee are the focal points of thier offense. They live and die with the playaction when it comes to their passing games, but if they can't run the playaction isn't the threat it was this past year. Out side of the divsion only KC and San Diego have stromng passing attacks.

We also have 6 million to go out, and spend. Hopefully a WR and S come available that we could go after on June 1st.

Like this post, except for the Howard point. He's Jamar Fletcher only more expensive. Hope they release him if he doesn't take a pay cut. They can afford to do it now. Spielman made a huge mistake with this guy.

The safety spots are scary but Saban will figure it out. Daniels and Bell make me feel better about FS.

The pass rush will be much improved as will the level of unpredictability we now have with the new personnel.

DT is still a little shaky with injuries to Timbo and Chester. Maybe that's why we kept Zgonina. I would have thought he'd be gone by now.

.

Don't forget Indy, Cincy, Oakland, even Jacksonville.

People aren't factoring in everything, it seems. We have made some big improvements on defense and got a great RB. Factor in MUCH MUCH better coaching and there is no reason to believe this team can't go 10-6. If you ask me, that is very realistic. This team, minus the new additions made, would go 8-8 under the new coaching staff. So you have to think the upgrades AND DRAFT PICKS would at least be worth another two wins.

I agree that our defense will be solid this year. Most importantly we will no longer be predictable. We have some really versatile players and great vets to he lp the young fellas along. My only concern is our second corner. I dont know if Poole or Howard can step up.

I agree. I think that our defense will be in the top 5.

I really like the look of our D this year. With another speed edge rusher to pressure opposing QB's, I think this takes a huge load off of our secondary. Our front 7 should be able to stop the run as well. I'm looking forward to a more Dolphin-like year.

doesn't that 6 million already have to pay for all these draft picks and signings?

As much as I have loved the Dolphins D over the past decade IM am glad to see us take a step towards the Ravens type defense. Big and Physical. Im a little tired of oour

Fast and Finesse type of Defense that runs out of steam in early December.

not to disagree but we have to score points to win and we don't have an offense who can do that. Its not reasonable to rely on the D to both play Def and score to win our games. If we can average 21 points a game then yes i beileve we can get to .500 otherwise cellar dwellers for one more year might be more realistic

But injuries wont! we have to think about how many injury prone players we have
