In all honesty, I actually think the draft was pretty good.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't thrilled that we passed on Quinn for Ginn. But at the same time, I wasn't really disappointed. Mystified, but not disappointed. We got Ted Ginn, Jr, who has mass potential as a flanker. And there were a whole lot worse players we could have taken instead. Oh yeah, all that "he can't go over the middle" stuff isn't true. As Boomer stated before, 60+% of his receptions over the middle.

Then we have John Beck. He has a good arm, good character, and is mobile in the pocket, and outside of it when he has to haul. He's also smart and is a film junky.

Also, we got that center or guard we always wanted. Or, at least, I always wanted. Samson Satele is a strong guy who can move. He needs some work in run-blocking. But if he can get that down, we have our center for years. Or guard.

The last pick of the day had me in mystified. Nothing against Lorenzo Booker. I think he's a great pick. But now I wonder about Ricky's fate.

Six more picks, gentlemen. Let's see what happens today. Here's hoping for a defensive help. Preferably a DE/OLB hybrid.

I think the Beck pickup is amazing. i watched this guy all thru his college and imo is better than quinn. one hell of a football player, u give it 2 seasons and we'l all be happy for years watching Beck throw over the corners to a screeming Ginn down the sideline for touchdowns. Finaly EXCITING football back in Miami!!!!

we picked lorenzo booker as a change of pace back im a UF fan so ive seen alot of lorenzo booker if it wasnt for his line in college hed have alot better numbers and hes able to make a play every time he touches the ball

I am not going to compare Booker to Reggie Bush but I can see him being used in the same way NO uses Bush in their offense. Booker has an explosiveness about him, plus he can line up wide. It is refreshing knowing teams gameplanning for us now have to account for other playmakers such as ginn and booker as well as chambers and ronnie.

in case u forgot, we did lose travis minor
so even if ricky does comeback which im sure he will, booker will still be in the mix sum how

I agree with you about the draft. But I do not think Booker has anything to do with Ricky. Remember, we lost Minor and Morris.

You're right: replacing Travis Minor was the most pressing need going into this draft.

John Beck is 26 years old.....By the time he's developed into a QB who can effectively run this offense we'll be looking for another one.

Ted Ginn is a game breaker, a threat that we haven't had in a long time. But thats as an all around player, he's not better as a receiver than the other receivers in the draft we could have had at 40. He's not better as a receiver than even Chambers and Booker.

The Lorenzo Booker pick was a joke.....

I liked the Salete pick, but out of all the other picks on the first day i dont think we're batting very high here. I didn't even want Quinn coming into the day, i dont think he's as good as he should be for a guy under Charlie Weiss. But if he was there at 9, with Thomas gone, Brown gone, Johnson gone, you've gotta look at him. Especially because he's a legitimate option to fill the gaping hole this team has had for seven years.

you cant accurately rate the draft until the end of next season,or even longer!

You got that right, if teams forget about those two play making rookies then they will be in trouble on Sunday.

I never liked Travis Minor as a player, he was the Anti Yeremiah Bell, good things never happened when he was on the field. "If" Booker can go 5.2 yards down field on a 3rd and five and catch the ball he will be a great pick up for us. On a 6 point scale (2 for Defensive improvement and 2 for Offense and 2 for Special teams) I would give us a 3.5.
