I know.we are playing the world champs and our rivals here but we should win this game.

Offense-We need to establish run and keep our defense off the field so we can give them a breather and keep brady off thefield. We need to have a great amount of possesion of time to do that.If we run the ball 30-35 times this game we will have a shot to win this game.Pats have such a bad run defense and if we establish the run playaction will play a good part and there will be windows for gus to throw in.

Defense-We always seem to get Brady rattled and make him do mental errors. We need to pressure him,Knock him down, and sack him just like we did with Vick. The pats run game is not very good. They got a crippled dillon and faulk is out i believe so i dont even know who steps in.The secondary is what will decide this game.If we intercept about 2 balls we will win this game.If we cause 2 turnovers on defense we will win.

My predictions

Frerrotte-1td1int

R.Brown-21 car 118yds 1td
R.williams-13 car 62yds

Chambers-5 receptions 68yds
micmichael-8 receptions 94yds 1td

we definitely match up well. we just need to run, run, run. keep the ball away for gus and we win. if we run less than 30 times in this game linehan should be taken out and well this is a family site

As much as i like your enthusiasm. The Patriots still are a very dangerous team . They have shown it the last couple of years injuries or not.

the colts are a team that is pretty good defensively and the Pats still scored alot of points.

i think this is a horrible matchup, in N.E.'s favor.

1) their passing offense versus our passing D - advantage: N.E.
Tom Brady is averaging almost 300 yards A GAME, and that is versus GOOD defenses... our passing D is near the bottom of the league. Tom's biggest problem with our D was Sammy Knight and Pat Surtain, both of whom are gone....

2) their passing D versus our passing O - advantage: wash
their passing D is beat up and full of second stringers, but our passing O is weak and our QB is ranked 29th out of 31 ranked QBs. If Gus could EVER put up good numbers, it is against backups and backups only (see: Denver game and 3rd string Dbs). Gus has shown that he consistently makes bad decisions, so my faith is not in his court this game...

3) our rushing O versus their rushing D - advantage: N.E.
its too tempting to be homers and give ourselves the edge with R&R in the backfield, but the game where they "broke out" we faced a very weak defense (new orleans). the rest of the games the "tandem" has played, they were shut down. Ronnie does well by himself, but i feel with splitting the carries we just won't get very far. We will probably fall behind early with their potent passing offense and we will not be able to convert on 3rd downs (like we haven't been able to do all year), so we won't get as many plays as we should.... reduced plays = less run attempts = less yardage for R&R. The reality is New England's rushing D is already strong, and with Bruschi back now, its even worse for us.... we're lucky if we hit 120 total rushing yards between the two backs for the game...

thats a brief and crude analysis, but that is the jist of what will happen.

I agree with the first two matchups but wee should be able to run all day. We are clearly getting better running and that goes to games before the Saints. It really comes down to Gus which obviously isnt the most inspiring of thoughts but if he can somehiow achieve 60% completions and zero turnovers we could win

I couldn't disagree more. I think Frerotte has excellent pocket presence and makes good decisions (that last throw in the Atlanta game not withstanding). He's just horribly inaccurate with his throws. But to knock him for poor decision making is flat out wrong.

the only stat i need to show to backup my comment is this:

Gus in last 4 games: 1 TD, 4 INT

i'll re-iterate.... Gus makes poor decisions. pocket presence and avoiding sacks is great, but what good is avoiding sacks if you can't make a first down with only TEN yards to go anyway?

I remember AT LEAST 1 of those INT's in the Saints game hitting McMichael. So I'm guessing that was his fault? People that blindly place all of the blame on him for this teams offensive woes are delusional.

He doesn't make poor decisions, he's inaccurate.. there's a difference.

if it makes you happy, replace "poor decisions" with "inaccurate passer". it doesn't change the argument... the point is he can't get the job done. i am not going to argue semantics.
