Football is all about emotion and the Jets are riding pretty high, especially on the defense. I fear that while we have established a pretty dominating ground game and our o-line is really stepping it up for the run, there have to be some clear cut improvements for us to take this game.

First, the Jets have a rookie qb at the helm, no different than us. I believe that they are doing a wonderful job at masking Sanchez's problems and playing more to his strengths. I expect them to really bring out the power run game with Thomas Jones and shift to the speedy Leon Washington and then if that is successful they are going to throw the ball. Realistically, their offense is a mirror of ours....

The key for us is for our linebackers to stay in their gaps and shut the run down. Something we have been able to do fairly well this season, however crowder MUST show up and stop improvising. If crowder tanks, IMO, it is going to be a long game for us...

We MUST stop showing our hand on defense prior to the snap. Manning ate us up and the Jets will do the same. That falls straight on PP, to make sure our guys are disguising the blitz and are able to audible when needed and not give away our coverage and blitz scheme. This is filthy sanchez here NOT manning.

Our Special Teams MUST show up on Monday night. First guy to the ball carrier, MUST make the tackle. I have no clue why all of our defenders are following the first guy and putting themselves out of position when the ball carrier jukes the other way. For us to win, it is going to be a field position battle. We cannot let them start at the 40 yard line every drive.

Will allen and Smith must get up and physical on JC and BE...

Make Sanchez show that he is a rookie. IMO, wake should be in the 3 point all game and allowed to come off the edge. Crowder should NOT come on a blitz because he is worthless. Bring some heat off the corners at times. If sanchez has heat all game, he WILL make mistakes.

Henne must be a master of the 3 step and out this monday night or run shotgun formations on passing plays to give him time. I wouldn't mind seeing us run some screens, especially when they are bringing the heat. We don't run screens ever. Hell we can use those crappy wideout screens to ginn and if they become over anxious, one could go for big. We should take what they give us and have ricky and ronnie coming out of the backfield for 3 yard pass completions but 3-4 more YAC. Ronnie should get 5-7 receptions this game easy. Dink and dunk can work here if the Jets are going to dial up a blitzes all game.

Allow TG to return kicks this game. Sure he is in the doghouse but nobody else is doing crap. How many did Ginn return last year to the house? 3 or 4 but I know a few were called back.

Simply put, the Jets are a very physical team but they really mirror us offensively. They have two very capable running backs, 2 good wideouts and mediocre tight ends. They have us beat in the wideout category but with sure handed bess and camarillo, we can do things against them. I pray that we don't try to wild cat them to death as they have the personnel to shut it down. No reason for us to not run it right at jenkins and use ball control offense to tire their defense out.

WE must have long time consuming drives that end in TD's. 2 or more of these and we have a good shot at winning this game. Kind of the same formula against SD except we need to execute. WE should have won that SD game but we beat ourselves.

Anyway just some thoughts out there on a football thursday. I don't fear the jets at all however the margin for error against a team that realistically "thinks" they are top tier, is very small. Like I said, the game is really about emotions and buying into a program. They "seem" to be really buying into it up there.

I hope the crowd will help make it a tough night for Sanchez. Henne needs to step up some, but the game should not really be on his shoulders. Our running game, improving pass rush and overall defense makes me feel we will take this one.

The Jets will probably come out throwing with their new "tool" in Edwards regardless of whether something works or not.

I think people should look at our strengths vs. their strength's.

Ryan will simply look to shut down our running game cus of Henne and our WR's are not imposing. But that really has nothing to do with controlling the ball for 35-40 minutes now does it?

We get our 3-4 yard pops and then hit someone for a 5 yard + pass for a first down.

It really comes down to the QB's and who screws up more for turnovers. Sanchez is full of himself and is ****y. That can play right into our hands. Edwards is clueless on plays so I would only expect them to design a couple of plays for him. Sean Smith will do just fine on Edwards.

Whoever wins the LOS battle particularly at NT gains an edge.

One thing people never consider until its too late is if WC and base running game is successful in the first half (75 -100+ yards), then Jets are in trouble in South Florida. Sanchez aint no Manning and we aint getting surprised on the first play of the game in this one.

1. Win turnover battle and control ball
2. Win up front on both lines.
3. Better QB (not neccessarily better statline) makes their team better than the other.

Our advantage is our rotating 6 DL are much stronger than theirs. But that does not mean that they wont be tough on Monday night football.

Jets Damien Woody looks banged up at RT. I smell Cam Wake again. We stop their run game like we have other teams, the Sanchez becomes the one with pressure to beat us and not Henne provided our running game gains as game wears on.

I say, its all about the fundamentals like no penalties, no turnovers, protect the football and play good field position by playing good special teams and making some big plays (Teddy Ginn is overdue), and just putting in another 35+ minute possession of football with better DB play like last week and this game is ours.

Which QB will handle the pressure better? Henne is very underrated while Sanches is Mr. Hollywood at ESPN.

How do you run high off a loss?

Nobody would have thought the jets would be 3-1 at this point and they were in the game pretty much the whole way against arguably the best passing offense in the NFL.

Even with a loss the mentality of that team has changed. If anything they are going to be pretty damn hungry this week to get back on track. If you look at what really made the pats good IMO, is that they never would lose two in a row. Like it or not, Ryan has done a pretty damn good job for them right now. Football is all about the mentality of the team, buying into the coaches program and then learning how to win. It appears the jets have "bought" into what ryan is cooking pretty damn quickly.

I think all of that 'feel good' media BS about the jests is going to fade real quick after we get through with them.

This game basically makes our season at this point.

We MUST win, and it is a home game on top of that.

I'm sure Sporano is up to the task at hand. I remember his first press conference when he was hired. I don't think he was kidding or talking out his *** when he spoke about challenges.

He's the complete opposite of the Tuna's replacement over at Dallas.

Which is why this game speaks volumes about the coaching staff IMO. It is only week 5 and our season is on the line. If the phins go out and lay an egg, I will wonder about how well the players are buying into Sparano's idea of a gameplan.

I would love to see Denver take care of NE this weekend and the phins really put it to the Jets.

Nothing would irritate me more than to see Porter and Crowder to talk crap and then play like complete garbage. It isn't like we haven't seen this before...

You sound like one of the local dolphins beat writers. Those guy's probably don't even watch the games. They just look at the stats afterwards.

The fins have played very tough teams and have dominated them at times. They haven't laid an egg in any game by any stretch of the imagination. The falcons are a very good team.

The things that you are wondering about, you wouldn't be wondering about if you'd have watched all of those player interviews this season.

I'm as sick of Crowder as you are. I think the front office's biggest mistake this off-season was re-signing that t00l, but the team doesn't seem to lack confidence or cohesion IMO at all.

When you are 1-3 playing at home against a division rival that is 3-1 on Monday night football it's a must win.

I agree but would like to point out that i believe its more about QB/Wideout timing then the playbook. The tendencies of both players, that simply cant be taught in less then a week. If Cotchery is out/limited for the game that would be a huge break for us.

Those pointing out how this game comes down to each teams QB mistakes are correct. Very interesting match up that one.
Sanchez has more starts, but Henne had a year to learn more about NFL defenses. Miami can stuff the run, therefor possibly forcing Sanchez to shoulder the game, which the Jets can pressure the QB, therefor leaving it up to Henne to make plays or at least set up a run game.

Isn't it exciting?

So you're saying that we should switch from a 3-4 defense to a 4-3 defense?

That's a pretty big change.

No, what I am saying is that wake is most comfortable (obviously as a past d-end) coming out of the 3 point. Most teams don't run a straight 3-4 anyway but rather a hybrid of the both.

True but where have we seen this "must win" stuff before only to watch them take a dump on the field?

For ME this game speaks volumes about the coaching staff and character of this team. This isn't the wounded and hapless buffalo bills here. That win last week, while proving we can beat up on a wounded runt, doesn't say anything about how good this years team is. I want to see it on Monday.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is what the score is when the clock turns to zero. We didn't finish against SD or the colts. ATL just plain gave it to us after our own mistakes.

Interviews mean nothing. What is a player going to sit there and say "TS sucks and I cannot stand being here?"

Also when I see guys not covering the TE all game and see crowder bouncing all over in-between his gap assignments like someone who doesn't have a clue, it makes me wonder who is at at fault here. Coaching or players who have no clue what their coaches are telling them. You don't give up a TD to garcon (of all people) in the way it went down if all of your guys are on the same page.

Hindsight being 20/20, it is what it is. Let's see what they have this week. Also I was pointing out that this isn't JP's or CC's first trash talking session. They have done this a few times and then disappeared. I am going to be embarrassed for the phins this time around if they do the same thing. Most teams that have the sack to spout off, generally can back up what they are saying.
