This Guy, Please!

Imagine teams running to his side of the field and the space to run being as wide as the Sahara.

It won’t be Burns... too light for this scheme

6'5 250 is by no means too light for this scheme. He would be playing OLB in 3-4 alignments. He's definitely got some question marks with strength in general, but if he can get you 15 sacks off the edge that can be looked past.

I gotta admit, he's one of my favorites. This kid needs to develop strength and become a better run defender … no doubt. But, we have time. His problems in 2019 aren't really a problem for us. If he can put on muscle and get better against the run, it's all good. His pass rushing ability is elite, and I really like the talent he has.

He's a boom or bust prospect. Not a sure thing … but we're positioned to suck in 2019, so we can live through some growing pains.

Yeah...well.. he has no coverage experience....so what do we have ?....an edge pass rusher? Not our new scheme.

Here is one NFL scout appraisal:

Here is what one area scout had to say about Burns, "I like him as a Day 2 guy, just because of the athleticism. You have to know what you're getting as a player, because he isn't going to be ready yet as a three-down defender. I couldn't take him in the first round just from a physical - size - standpoint."

Why... ? When you have an elite DT in Jeffrey Simmons, or a Christian Wilkens who don’t have to develop.

This is what I’m worried about. He’s not going to play at 250. He’s closer to 235 I think. He even reportedly played last year at 225

Maybe … but it's all about value right? IMHO, there's lots of evidence to suggest that pass rushers are superior to non-pass rushing DL. Even Suh, as great as he was, wasn't as impactful as a great edge rusher. I'm looking for that pass rusher to make my DB-heavy scheme work.

That's cool one random scout says that's, plenty others say hell be an elite edge rusher though. Am edge rushes is so valuable. If you can get an elite one he doesn't need to be good at anything else. But he's freakishly athletic and talented so I don't think he would be a major liability dropping back in coverage occasionally anyhow.

He said it was easy for him to put on the weight. I think he could easily play at 250 this year, at least 240.

Sweat might be there. Ferrell as well. I would take either of those guys before Burns.
