Hello To All of you.... I have been following and watching Dolphin football since the Perfect Season....and this is it....this is the lowest and most dissillusioned---the most frustrated I have ever been watching fins football. Like all of you... I simply cannot believe how far this franchise...and this is one of the most prestigious franchises...a franchise that simply does not deserve to be in the state that it finds itself in today. It really is a reality check for all of us fans....you know why? Because we are now in a position where we as fans are unaccostomed to being in. The team has no IDENTITY...it has no face... the days of knowing which players will be starting game in and game out...seem to be from a foregone era of Dolphin football. Now...the names are Eastlick, Gordon, and Feely. On defense...there is an Anderson, a Chidi, and a Wyrick. Its a revolving week to week tryout for a special teams return specialist...and on the sideline...we look at our head coach...who constantly is using his hands to see if he still can wave his hair back...after the next penalty or intecepiton he happens to see. Where have you gone indeed Donald Francis Shula and even Joseph B. Robbie....are lonely hearts certainly misses the days of which you headed our beloved franchise... There was pride, there was dignity...there was at least enough talent on both sides of the ball...where we could endure down seasons. There was always a TRUST....and we all read DAVE HYDES column today...and he hit it hard there...there was a constant image of a SHULA...a Marino. There was always something for all the fans to attach to....even when things were going badly....those teams would never be looked at...at the way we as fans are now viewing the exhibition of football that we have seen in these past couple of weeks. We are at a point now...where for the first time in many, many moons....you probably have to go back before Don Shula arrived...to just put in perspective how long it really has been---to see this kind of dropoff...and this goes from not only the way this team is performing on the field...you have to look at it the exact way Dave Hyde did today....you look at it form the Owner...to Speilman..to his scouts..the Head coach...everybody who works in this organization who has helped create this current environment that we are now in...has just got to be accountable for taking a franchise that was once and suppose to be forever rembered and revered for its great heritage...to a state of mind now...where all the outside world views this franchise now as one that is in a downward spiral of futility. There is no face...there is no identity. The only thing that is constant...is ZACH and Jason. And the uniforms. And this is the year...that the constant is now... We as fans have to get used to.... there is going to be a whole lot of....LOSSES. And no...we cannot fathom this. And we should not have to. But we have to do it with pride....and then all we can do is hope for a change. A new face...a new attitude...a new identity. That will be the theme for next year....but as for this year? There is not much anyone can do... Changing coaches now or in mid-season...it seldom really changes anything...as Gary Stevens....the former Oc under Don Shula once said... "you can't make chicken salad...out of Chicken s---t!". But you can also say this...."nothing changes if nothing changes". The fire Dave Wannstedt now signs are out there....but does anyone out there expect Mr. H. to do anything right now? Its just not going to happen...this man will not embarrass his coach...he will wait until this season is over and done with.

With that said... I am here to endorse the one name that makes sense for this franchise...and its Howard Schnellenberger. I am also here to tell you to not forget about the name of Ron Wolf...because that was the guy that Wayne really wanted to hand the job to in the first place with there "search" from last season. But seriously... Im sitting the other day at Shula's Steak 2 in Miami Lakes...and there he is...Schnellenberger right there at the table next to mine. Right there...I said to myself...that is the Identity...that is the trusting Face...that man will bring in that new Attitude to the team...and to the fans. Howard is a master at Rebuilding an Image of a Program...and he once again...is doing it with FAU...who are undefeated so far this season. This would be the one man...who would really make sense to me. This is not a quick fix here...this is definately a situation where it is going to take an overhaul of this current roster. And in the front office also. What better way then to lead your new scouting department...professionally and collegiate levels...with Mr. Ron Wolf? Even if there tenures in this orgainization are short...because of there advanced aged...all we need is a couple of seasons...within 3..presumably...I would almost guarantee this team would be competing at a very high level...and better more...look at both there histories....when they left there teams? Those teams...are all still very highly organized and competitive as they had when they left. The people who are left in place----because of there leadership and what they had installed behind...a system that works---will conitnue on. What the Dolphins orgainization needs right now...at the end of this season....is a total and complete overhaul of its entire culture. Wayne has to make changes...because his own image is now starting to take a hit...as fans and media people alike are wondering what the heck he is thinking about. A smart Billionaire businessman like Wayne is looking right now...that he actually looks like he accepts losing in this orgainization...is tolerable..as long as he is making a profit. He needs to start treating the Dolphins like some of his high profile holdings and start caring about what the hell is going on with this team and its current state. Lets say it unitl Wayne finally gets it... A new Face...A new Attitude...a New Idenity. Howard Schnellenberger and Ron Wolf.... Im DCH....and I have approved this messege.

Howard Shnellenberger?

Please tell me this is a joke?

I tell you who's a joke.... Dave Wanstetd.

at this point in time ANYONE is better than Wrongstetd.

That was a good joke there. Howard is the second worst idea for a coach I have heard on here. The first still goes to the guy who wanted us to hire Don Strock, a man who had a mediocre career in the arena league and coaches at FIU right now....

Seriously though, Howard???

In all seriousness DCH what is it you see in Schnellenberger?

Howard did it with UM...I'm actually reading about that now in the book Cane Mutiny (awesome book by the way). Not sure what Scnell has left but the man did make chicken salad out of chicken ****...and the canes were much worse off then the fins are now. Interesting read there DCH...thanks

That type of rational will only get us right back to where we are right now.

Its A Short List Of Real Candidates Guys....

The most important endorsement from my standpoint...(a wannyism) is to change the identity, the face, the attitude of this franchise----back to where it really belongs. Im not watching Dolphin games like I am accustomed to....I am not looking forward to Dolphin games like I used to...I am also not selling Dolphin merchandise like I used to...and everyday that goes by in the malls that I go too....I have never seen the fans disgust with this team...and its head coach at this level. There is no way that this franchise goes forward with this head coach...or the current GM...they are both tied at the hip....making decisions as a committee with input from other personnell people under them...who are inputing advice that helps yield decisions such as putting together this offensive line unit...and drafting the Jamar Fletchers---the Eddie Moores..the Wade Smiths...and giving away draft picks so easily...that even help out such teams like the Patriots...who get Corey Dillion with one of the second rounders that we gave them...and how about next season..when the mighty Eagles draft very high in the second round...when all they gave up was a quarterback that would have been holding a clipboard for them... the Dolphins are looked at in such a way now....around the league....its just sad to see. We have referees calling out "everyone but the center" now....as we jump offsides....and we have national announcers now.. pleading with some of our players to actually "apologize" to our starting quarterback. Take a look at this state...the one we are in right now....everybody. Its a joke... and it takes only a coach of this ilk....to not really be able to really know what to do...there is no answer and no adjustments with this coach. He does not know what to do....its as simple as that. He actually believes that Punting is good... Its almost soon to be expected that WaNNY will PUNT on third down sometime during the season. A holding call within our own 20 yard line...and its Third and 22 from the 8 yard line....I would not be surprised if he punted the ball right there.

You like to see someone with respect and authority... Howard is just someone I feel can do this.... that is all. Im endorsing a change...household changes in this organization. You have the short list of names... Im just adding another one.

DCH, I hear you! I'm actually got used to being constantly teased now, but you know what is worse...all of those folks now are sympathetic and feel sorry for me...is that friggin sad or what? I was doing a squadron car wash the other day and wore a fin jersey and hat, and some guy got out of his car and said wow, there is a dolphin fan that hasn't boxed up all of his dolphin stuff. Came over and whispered (so noboody else heard)that he was also a dolphin fan...sad, sad times:(

Are you really ready to throw at least the next 2 years down the drain in order to rebuild the team? If you take the course Jimmy did and just throw out all the high priced vets it means at least one season with a shell of a team and a couple more to rebuild the roster. You better have one front office genius to pull it off...Jimmy was the best at drafting defense but couldnt put a team together in 3 years. And he had an offense.

Its just a bit early to throw in the towl on this team. The defense is still there and like it or not those same players are gonna be on this team for at least the next couple years. It would behoove the Phins franchise to put all their effort into finding the right offensive players to make it work while this defense is still intact. I would agree with a policy of sell the future for the present, and give overmarket value contracts to the likes of Edge, and a top lineman like Walter Jones if available. The team has too much talent to just trash it and rebuild. However the FO and coaching staff may need to be replaced.

Howard is too old IMO. We bring back Jimmy Johnson and ask him to save our frnnchise. J.J. can bring back our tradition.

Sometimes you have to go through the bad to get to the good. This offseason was the worst ever in history. Blame it on whoever you want, but Howard schnellenburger wouldnt be able to overcome what has happend to this team this year. And for those who have given up, i say screw you. Is this team in some serious trouble? yes. Will wanstedt be gone after this year? yes.

so what. You knew it would come eventually. stop playing this crybaby, wo is me crap. Stop being a girlie man who bashes the same guy over and over again like fielder and wanny. we all know who they are. they are not the whole reason this team sucks this year. I hear people not blaming ricky for quitting..........thats what a joke is. At least now we know the truth and we go on from here. It is what any leader would tell you. maybe mccintosh comes in at LT and we get a lot of stability and ability to run the ball a little better than before. Maybe we get Konrad back and things start to look up. But dont give this crybaby crap about how this is the worst thing that ever happened to you. If we go 1-15, so be it! take it like a man and look to the future! Just think, we may have a top 5 pick and some more with ricky if he comes back from being bankrupt as he should be. Did anyone in here really think we had a chance to go to the SB even with Ricky? I didnt. No one really knew that we would make it to the playoffs cus we have not the past two years with ricky!
Its all right to complain about what is happening cus we are the customers. But lay off the crybaby stuff allright? i cant take that and i dont have any respect for it.

Did Howard ever get over his :drinker: problem ?Anyone know?

Howard has found his niche in the football coaching world and that is starting and putting football programs on the map.He did it with UM and he is doing it again with FAU.

I think we are stuck with Wanny until at least the end of the year.Wayne has a high personal regard for the man and he wouldnt yank him even though the season may be a disaster.

I wondered if anyone was going to bring that up.
It's a valid question. His drinking got him run out of Oklahoma.
Based on his results at FAU so far you could conclude that he's kicked the habit but who knows.

Heck maybe he is a great candidate for the Phins job, you'd have to be a heavy drinker to get through the mountain of problems we have.
