This is a too good of a roster to fail...

as fans we seem to always over-estimate the talent of the players on our team.

This x1000...All fans do it, except the fans of teams that actually win games. We have plenty of gaping holes to fill talentwise + coaching staff that can't get results = losing season (aka 7-9 the last two years and 0-3 so far this year). We'll get it right eventually, but it will take another regime and some more growing pains I'm afraid.

Why do people on here keep claiming that this team is too talented to lose?????? Where do they think all of this talent is?????? On the sidelines??? Yes, the cheerleading squad is loaded with talent... And Yes the coaching sucks and has for years but truthfully it feels a lot like 2007...

No franchise QB (Or WORSE, developmental project)... Atrocious OL (Despite TWO high first rounders)... One good RB (we think)... One stud receiver (on the verge of throwing in the towel)... One pass rusher (despite oodles of picks and cash thrown at the line)... One LB (Seriously) and one corner (he is good, just ask him).

Ireland has had us on a treadmill for four years... A whole lot of running and a whole lot of going nowhere.

Sorry buddy, but mixing sarcasm with truth is an easy way to confuse anyone. So before you go off calling people illiterate, try and have some understanding of how people should write, not how people should read.

Was written fine. Very clear and understandable.

...not sure if I can agree but:
in 08 we had a rookie LT, a C in his 2nd year and Ndukwe and Alleman at guard! This tells all the story about depht!
Today a 2nd rounder (Cook) a decent player (Garner) and a "high" draft pick (Jerry) are riding the bench...

in 08 we had Camarillo and Ginn as our WR with Rookie (Bess) in the slot, Brandon London was a back-up!
Today we have Bess in his prime and Marshall paired with Hartline aren´t better than Cammarillo and Ginn...?

in 08 we had a rookie at LDE and Starks at RDE nobody knew back then...
Today they have 3 seasons of experience 1 combined pro bowl and some decent depth with 2 first round picks...(I know Merling was a 2nd rounder)

in 08 we had Crowder and Ayodele at ILB...
Today Dansby and Burnett who were considered pretty damn good AND athletic ILBs!

I will not talk about the secondary, because they were pretty good last season, sans the dropped picks, but I have no clue what happened to them!
WAS Chris Clemmons really that good...

For ME on paper this ´11 teams looks damn good, also Chad H is playing better right now...

...Maybe it´s the lack of leadership that Chad P got in him, and the desire to prove everybody wrong!

I get what you are trying to say but truthfully it is kind of like saying that Piranha 2 is way better than Piranha when they are BOTH BAD movies. 0-3 proves it.

Our 'D' laid down for McCoy like they were rolling out the orange carpet for him. Then our 'O' came out and could not get 7 yards in 4 tries... We actually played WORSE when it mattered the most... This should tell you a lot about the character of the players and staff.

Your point about Penny is a valid one as I GUARANTEE, he would have punched back after the Browns scored and QB is the only position that can literally raise the level of play of everyone else... Just don't tell that to Ireland. :bobdole:

I think he's saying that once players put on a dolphins uniform, all of their talents seem to diminish. As crazy as that sounds, in a lot of cases it is very coincidental.

It may be coincidental... but it certainly has seemed true in recent years.

It's like Miami is a place where careers come to die.

I don't think any NFL roster is quite complete in the day and age of the salary cap. There are some good football players on this team. If they get a real coach next year I wouldn't be suprised to see a turn around right away building with the nucleus of what they have now and adding with the draft and FA.

I think they will be competitive with San Diego and find ways to blow it. Sparano has a real special committment to losing. It's kind of like all those years in division races with the Patriots and hoping they lose when they play other teams so Miami can keep pace in the division. Just when you think NE is beat they find a way to win. That's what well coached teams do. The Jets are now getting a lot of these with Ryan. Poorly coached teams find ways to lose them. Much of the suspense for this Sunday is just how they are going to blow this one. Or maybe by now they just give up and get blown out 50-0.

The biggest problem here is that it's no longer 2008. The supporters of this regime need to figure this out. Further, Chad Henne is no Chad Pennington where it counts most: mentally. We won in 2008 because of a combination of an extremely weak schedule and a little trickery that everybody in the league figured out how to stop by the second year. We also had more talent then than now in the secondary. Will Allen then was better than anybody starting now, including Davis (that's not to say Davis won't surpass him eventually).

Crowder, unfortunately, was better than Burnett. That's not saying much since Crowder was constantly out of position. The FO can't seem to solve this area of the defense, and opposing TE's don't mind that one bit.

Our WRs in 2008 were of little consequence. You can plug any WR into Pennington's dink and dunk range and they will do okay. Pennington was simply a more talented QB than Henne, and that's a big difference in comparing talent between then and now. The QB is so much more important than any other position, that even slight increases and decreases in talent level at the position affect the success of the team more than any other. That simply can't be argued, just ask Indy. If Addai went down (again), no big deal. Hell, if Saturday went down, they'd still be competing. Manning goes down? They're now in the hunt for Luck. It's that huge.

You plug today's Henne into the 2008 team, even with the trickery and weak schedule, we don't win the division.

I agree the roster has lots more talent than it is showing that is why I revert to coaching. You see it happen all the time a new coach produces better results with the same players. There used to be a old Shula saying that Shula would your un's with his uns and he beat his un's with your un's. The paddle has fallen out of the boat. It happened the last game of the season last year. Sporano lost the team and it is still lost. I moaned about it hope it was wrong and that Sporano could somehow gain control. Right now Sporano is just collecting a paycheck and going through the motions. You can see it in her interviews. Put a smily face on things and move on.

We are bad for two reasons..
1) coaches
2) only a handful of talented players

I dont get why everyone on this board thinks we have such a talented team. We do not. We have maybe 4 or 5 truly talented players and thats all. Do not be confused, this absolutely is a roster perfectly capable of failing.

...still cant believe that we are 0-3 after looking through our roster!
Compared to 08, this team is loaded! ...especially after the emerge of Daniel Thomas, we all thought he could be the weak spot 4 weeks ago!
The depth throughout the roster is ok, and as Vernon went I wasn´t overly concerned! ILB maybe the weakest point (still cant believe we gave up on Edds after one preseason!) and maybe safety, but again the team in 08 was out to prove something...

We have to stop perform sloppy (the Houston game came to my mind) and start to drive and play nasty! In 08 and 09 we were considered to be a tough and nasty team!
PLAY TOGETHER ONE GAME - START TO GEL!!!

Stop overrating this roster

It's not too good of a roster to fail. There is no winner at the Qb position and no winners in the secondary. The guys there have perceptible physical talent, but that doesn't equate to "good".
