This is all because McDaniel abandoned the run in the second half of games.

How can he have faith that game when Mostert coughed up a fumble and gave all momentum to Green Bay?

Absolutely waste of a great roster. There’s no reason why we couldn’t ground and pound in the second half against the Packers. That’s just one example, but it’s been going on for a while.
I will say that GB pretty much stuffed every run we did attempt in the 2nd half. I believe either the 1st or 2nd Tua pick came on 3rd down after two 1-2 yard gain runs on 1st and 2nd. GB’s defense definitively adjusted to what our offense wanted to do.

Disagree, only because I think your point is incomplete. Agree he abandoned the run in MANY games, but if the checkdowns were working (NE), it was abandoned. Passes to Sherfield and RBs working? Abandoned. Hot reads? Never abandoned because they were never used.

when I get some time I may start a thread asking for a ranking of problems in the '22 season. For now ranking first would be Mcd.

Thank you, I keep seeing posts about abandoning the run game but the Fins sticking to the run in the 2nd half of the GB game continuously put us in third and long situations because the run game was not working.

Yes McDaniel has been questionable play caller at best let alone a questionable head coach. We lead the league in penalties. Injuries are no excuses. We see other teams clinching playoffs with backups as well. Bad teams find ways to lose games and that's what we are doing.

That’s hilarious. I was just told in a different thread that McDaniel cost Miami the game because he ran the ball too much on first down in the New England game. McDaniel isn’t the problem.

McDaniel is a terrible game day coach. Worse the Dolphins have had since Cam Cameron, imo.

So you obviously believe that having a decimated secondary for most of the year. Along with Armstead, Jackson, and Eichenberg, and Tua missing several games with injuries had nothing to do with the teams collapse.

I totally agree that when all their players are healthy and on the field, the Dolphins roster is as talented as any roster in the NFL. Yet injuries to many key players have a lot more to do with the Dolphins record now than the fact they didn’t run the ball more.

Injuries played a role. Still, losing 5-6 in a row was on coaching. We should have won some of these games. Team committed too many penalties, didn’t stick w the run at times, didn’t play complimentary football it goes on and on.

This realization does what exactly?

I will argue the Dolphins lost to GB, not because McD abandoned the run, but because our QB was concussed and none knew it until the next day.

The strength of the offense is Tua to Hill and Waddle.

Yes and when that many injuries occur, the dolphins are one of those teams that cant operate like the ones above them, meaning there are teams that can still find ways to win without key players. Depth is super important.

Biggest reasons for what's going on...

  • Boyer seems like a coach who knows his defense very well, a defense that relies on DBs... Fins lose CB2-3-4 and SS for the season. Boyer doesn't seem to be able to shift the focus from DBs to DL in order to make it work. Perfect storm that lead to...
  • This defense being on the field for way to long, allowing too many plays and giving up to many points. Which leads to...
  • An offense that is 7th in the NFL in points scored per drives despite having the 5th worst average starting position, but lacked a reasonable amount of opportunities to actually score points.
  • Also, outside of the Chargers game, every single gameplan on offense had players in position to succeed and I can easily count at least 3 more wins if Tua is himself in said games or the backup doesn't throw as stupid of a ball as you'll ever see.
  • The 3 best players on offense are Tua, Hill and Waddle and the entire offense is built around them, as it should be. If the Fins organization wants a more diverse offense, they will need more pieces to work with.
  • In all games Tua missed, the backup didn't finish the game. Pure bad luck. I know you guys hate that word but truth is, there's a **** ton of luck in NFL football whether you want to admit it or not.
All that being said, you can question every single little details as if you knew your, in hindsight alternatives would've worked, its just a waste of time as those don't even come close to anything noted above.
