AJ Feeley[/QUOTE] :confused2  who knows..

i dont think hes having a bad time at practice... no ones really saying that, yesterday he might have had a frustrating practice, but in practice its been pretty much even with gus... its just in the games he hasn't delivered

At least one part of that article wasn't confusing...Donald Lee dropping passes. All that talent but he just can't hang on to the ball. We'll find out about Feeley soon enough. I think the next game will go a long way to deciding his future.

I honestly don't think Saban has ever been that impressed with Feeley and that he is only keeping AJ around because we traded a 2nd round pick for him. He didn't go after GUS just for depth...he brought Gus in to start.

I think he gave AJ every opportunity, and he aint producing. simple as that.

I disagree that AJ is just being kept on because of his price. Why should Saban care what we gave for Feeley, he wasnt the one that made the deal? If Saban didnt think AJ could be of use to the team he would cut him.

That's the problem with camp reports, most observations are at the mercy of the observer's understanding of what is going on.

After comparing finheaven poster camp reports with those of professional beat writers, I actually see no reason to believe the beat writers. In fact, I think for the most part they haven't got much of a clue what is going on on the football field that lay fans couldn't get too. They are really good at following intrigue, but a little short on actual scouting and evaluation ability.

I'd agree with you, CK. I think there may be a little less bias in the eyes of a beat writer, simply because many of them aren't even Dolphins fans. They just make a living out of writing about them.

On the flip side of that, beat writers also don't follow the team as closely as we do. That's why you'll always read reports that say things like "Tim Bowens did not practice today."

Also, a lot of these guys don't even GO to camp. They read other reports, create some sort of "mystery" or controversy, and then doll up a flashy article about how "Ricky's not welcome" or "JT is Unhappy." As much as it sucks, most people (most paper readers) don't want to hear about whether or not Ronnie Brown split wide or how the battle for Center is shaping up. Paper readers aren't all Dolphins fans. They want drama, catchy headlines, and "stories."

Camp reports from Dolphins Fans are going to be excited, biased, rosy, and technical. Beat Writer camp reports are going to be basic, flowery, dramatic, and fuzzy.

Which makes it more confusing to sort all this stuff out...I tend to agree with CK in terms of writing skills between the beat writers and our own observers...I trust Ozzy and the guys because I know they want us to have a realistic view somewhat...I know they can't see everything at camp..but they do give a good reveiw of what's happening at camp..I'm hoping this article is a statement by AJ that he'd better get in gear and do something.

I just know that I've yet to read anything from a local beat writer that suggests to me he really really knows what he's talking about in terms of football and scouting.

I've written a few camp reports. They are difficult for me to do and reduced my enjoyment of the event as I had to focus and take notes. This gave me a great appreciation of those who actually do a good one. The way this board has treated some of our rookie reporters I am surprised anyone bothers. Kudo's to those that do !!
