Ryan Tannehill was the NFL’s most-sacked quarterback his first four seasons in the NFL, and he never once complained about terrible protection or taking too many hits. He also never said this about those offensive lines:

“I’m more confident in this offensive line than I’ve ever been.”

Until he’s in a commercial buying these for his front line, I won’t be happy

those isotoner gloves caused him to be kidnapped and almost prevented us from winning our last super bowl.

I want to see RT17 posing in zubaz in front of a corvette, the one thing though is, and im sure it'll change during the season, buttttt this goes kind of with what jets hater said. about discipline and training. I know we wanted to baby sitton a little in training camp and offseason, but it seemed he was getting more veteran days off then any other player. Maybe its cause he's an "old man" whos been playing in the north for awhile. I don't miss pounce one bit, but that was one of most our biggest gripes about the O-Line last year...how can they be cohesive and grow together if pounce only has to practice one day a week. I'm hoping now that is go time then sitton is going all the time in practice, I think it would just be so beneficial to have him beside LT every second that LT is lined up, think JS and Dkil will be fine together, just feel that him and LT will need to get a better feel. maybe that's why LT looked so good at Lguard his rookie season, I think that was before we were babying pouncy right? and he had albert beside him, so he was learning from the 2 vets. have a feeling Larsen was just more worried about himself with the subtle way he kind of mentioned "yeah its an open competition", so im sure his moral didn't seem quite up to standard and that can affect willingness to help others.

I don't see it looking the best on paper, I really think the one 2 years ago looked better "on paper" pro bowl LT, stud 1st rounder at LG, Probowl C, (dont even rember who the hell our RG was), and then 2nd year player at RT. but I still think we are going to be better

not going to miss pounce, so don't take any of that like Im taking up for him, I just want to see us get the 5 ypc and tannehill have time to actually go downfield,

We all want to see that! The o-line has to show up in a big way. This is the home opener in front of a big, sold out stadium. In our opening series, WE must set the tone. Same thing on D! Man, we're either for real or we're not, so much rides on Sunday.

What percentage of his 213 sacks are from holding onto the ball too long? How does that compare to other QBs in the league?

It’s hard to tell, all I have vision of is the end of the Ravens and Bills games. If I had to go by memory I’d say it’s in the 10 to 20 percent. But there is a disclaimer, sometimes I suffer from OFD.

...and wordlessly/without complaint he pissed blood* for a few of those years. If anyone in the league has paid their dues by silently taking all the bullshit, getting up and dusting himself off to inevitably do it again, it's Tannehill. He deserves at least an average OL.. something he's never had.

*since continuing to cite this OL-driven urinary reality & uncommon QB affliction incongruously seems to piss some off, I'm only too happy to oblige.

Exactly right.....the VAST majority of his sacks are not his fault and the entire pocket is collapsing! People who have no idea about football talk about his pocket presence, when most of his career he has had NO pocket to have presence in. People try to compare Russell Wilson's line to ours and it is a bad joke because Wilson does not receive pressure from two to three areas at the same time, COMPLETELY different situation and Wilson would have been broken in half behind our lines, especially with the injuries to key players that happen every year. I have said this several times and I will say it again, Tannehill was 11-4 in 2015 and 2016 when Pouncey, James, and Albert played making up a line that still ranked in the mid 20's. If given even slightly below average protection, he wins games PERIOD! When clowns like Thomas, Turner and the slew of other rejects we have had as back ups are in, he gets hit on 3 step drops and we lose games. Been that way since 2012. Funny, I was watching a Broncos preseason game last week and Turner whiffed a block and got the QB killed. It is mind blowing that Turner and Thomas stayed on the team as long as they did!

If the tendency to get sacked more than average is a manifestation of holding the ball too long, then Tannehill is in good company including Elway, Staubach, Big Ben, Rodgers, Rivers, Cunningham, Steve Young, Tarkenton and Alex Smith.

.. Archie Manning who's on the list also might serve as a fitting analogy to Tannehill considering he was a damn good QB, better than Eli even saddled with a terrible team for most of his career.

I just want the naysayers to back up their comments with some real data. None of them ever do.

Nice find there’s 7 of the 5 year stats that are higher sack totals than Tannehill has had. Lomax, and Cunningham are the the 2 that stand out. I was young when Lomax played, but if I remember right he was not mobile. And he did play on some really bad teams. Cunningham remained me of Fran Tarkenton, witch isn’t bad in my mind.
