This is the official Thread for those that are still of sound mind. Nobody likes to lose, that's a given. BUT the team did not play anywhere near as bad as the dooms day poster are making it out to be. The O line is the main reason that we did not win the game. This should not be such a big surprise to anybody, we all knew the O line was suspect. The secondary also had a bad outing, again a unit that we knew was knot running at full strength. D Mac was awful, and V. Carey looked like a Sophomore. Frerotte played a good smart game. There where some dropped balls, and some overthrown passes, but the coverage was good down field and forcing the issue could have meant an INT. The receivers are not getting open, or creating separation for Gus. The O line is doing a decent job of pass protection. The receivers need to take advantage of this and create some big plays. It is really unfair to criticize R. Brown when the O line is not creating holes for him. When there is a whole he hits it. Brown is hesitating a little bit, and trying to stutter step instead of maintaining forward progress. This is something that will come with more snaps in the NFL. The timing of plays is completely different in the NFL than in college, I think he (Brown) is still adjusting.

If everybody remembers correctly this a team that was forecast to go 4-12 again. Obviously, even with the loss to the Jets we are a better team than that. The defense kept us in the game until the very end, and the offense did not look altogether dead. We will have some growing pains this year, but I still strongly believe that the Dolphins will be an 8-8 team or better. Right now we are still tied for first in our division and and next week we play at home. Sabin will hand the players there a$$ this week in practice and next week will will play much better against the Jags. The Jaguars are no pushover team, so if we can bounce back with a victory I will be very happy.

If we win 1 out of the next two games then we will be 2-2 when Ricky comes back. This will be an instant boost to the offense. Teams will have to respect the run game even with a mediocre O line. Ronnie can learn a lot running with Ricky. Ronnie's game can improve and Ricky can stay fresh not having to take every hand-off. Once Ricky is back the opposing defense will have to respect the fact that he is in the backfield. This should create some more opportunities for the passing game.

I hate losing as much as the next guy, but it's not like last year when we where watching hoping for a miracle. The Dolphins are playing better football this year. GO DOLPHINS

No it did not look altogether dead, but there sure was a long list of 3 and outs. We would be so much further ahead if the team just stopped some of the mistakes.

Things aren't as bad as they seem after a loss, and are never as great as they seem after a win. I agree with the WR's not getting any seperation, and not making plays when they're given an opportunity. There were some threads about letting Randy McMichael go after his contract is up, but right now he is the best player on the offense, and I don't know if that is going to change. I think he's going to have the breakout year, we're expecting from Chris Chambers.

I'm of sound mind. I think things will be good for us this season -- great in retrospective from last season. McMike will do good, Chambers and Booker will do good, I think Ronnie will show some potential by seasons end and give us a lot to look up to for the future.

With week ones win, a lot of people forgot that we are rebuilding. It felt like the rebuilding came and went and now we are contenders. I think we'll be competitive this season but the verdict is still out as to whether we have the right cogs in gear.

Thank you 17, great post. I said before the end of preseason that if we can be 2-2 when Rickey returns we just might sneak up on some people. Rickey will make our o-line look much better hence the better running game which opens up the offense for Gus. I wish some leaders would emerge on offense similar to the way that Jason, Junior and Zach lead the D. This is a MUCH better team and we will improve with each game. Nothing to be down about. I've rewatched the game several times and the ball just wasn't bouncing our way and the refs killed us especially in the first series where they threw the ticky-tack flag on Shulters. We had them stopped and they ripped us off. I've watch the play a dozen times and it sure seemed clean to me. Then we miss the field goal and it was one of those days. I think we'll get even with the Jets at home. Thanks for the upbeat, sane post that doesn't mention cutting Ronnie Brown who I slow motioned to death and he did plenty of good things. Certainly enough to build on.

Thank you 17. Thank you. Our D looks great. If our O can pick it up and keep with the D we will beat Carolina, mark those words, Carolina will go down if we can find our running game ans stop those crucial drops. You have to have faith, imagine if our lockerrom was acting like this message board, he!! we would be 1-15, have faith, we have a good team. Its not like were expected to win the SB or anything anyway, calm down, ye of little faith, we will be fine, especially when RW is back.

My mind hears sounds. Do I qualify?

If our O-Line could open some holds and Chambers hang on to passes and the DBs cover opposing WRs and the long-snapper show consistency we will be alright.

Good post. I am SICK of all the so called fans that are running around like chickens with their heads cut off calling for the heads of Nick Saban and Ronnie Brown.

Randy had a bad training camp, but was ready to go once the season started. He has been the most reliable receiver since the start of the regular season. Randy is one of the best athletes we have on the offense. Once Frerotte and the rest of the receivers get there timing down that will create more opportunities for everybody. Experience and cohesiveness is not something that comes quickly. We will improve as the season goes on. The Dolphins have one of the better receiving squads in the NFL, it will start to show soon. Linehan did not come here to not put points on the board. This guy is one of the best offensive coordinators in the game. The offense just needs a little more time to come together in the new system.

This post is constructive criticism and giving credit where credit is due...Isn't this what Finheaven is all about?.......Excellent post

The Bronco win was a great start, giving the fans visions of Super Bowls. The loss to the Jets was the antidote. We have to remember that this is a team in transition, going from an ill-coached group of underachievers to a Super Bowl contender. Rome was not built in a day.

As fans we have to face certain facts:

Ronnie Brown is a rookie and needs to develop into an NFL caliber back.
Gus Frerotte is an interim QB, not the future of the team.
Chris Chambers may not have a break out year unless he stops dropping the ball.
The OL is a work in progress and may (will) sport some new faces next year.
The secondary has been weakened but not destroyed.
The whole Defense is on a learning curve with the new schemes.
Nick Saban is not God, but he will be damn close.
The old regime **** the bed and it will take time to clean the mess.
We will not go 4-12.
We will not go to the Super Bowl (this year).

There is a lot of doom and gloom on the board, fans are restless and want to be back on top where we usually are. We were spoiled with Shula for all those years as coach. Marino at QB...moment of reflective silence...

I think we now have a coach worthy of leading this Franchise. Give him a couple years before judgement is passed. (Remember Wanny's first couple years coaching? His impact was not immediately felt.) He'll get us to the Super Bowl.

Good post. I was getting tired of reading all the threads about how great we were after game one and how lousy we are after game two. This will be a year of ups and downs and more than a few surprises. I'm going to enjoy the ride all the while knowing that at least now we are heading inthe right direction.

Great....a place for me to post my reaosnable thoughts!!!! Thanks.

1) I wasnt that upset by the Jets game. We were in the game till the very end. We did nothing to throw the game away (excpet for some penalties but its early in the season).
2) Gus played like I expect him to. He isnt a superstar. But he isnt horrible like many people on the forum have been saying. The fact is, he gave us a chance to win the game. He didnt panic on blitzes and throw it to the other team like we did all of last year. Im happy with him at qb right now.
3) The defense played wonderful. Again, the posts that the defense sucks really show a lack of football knowledge. Reggie Howard struggled in coverage, but thats expected. Daniels got beat for the td, but otherwise played solid. We had decent pressure, but seemed to struggle on a few draw plays. Again, that can be fixed.
4) My only complaint is that I think we may have abandoned the running game a little too early. I dont want to see Gus have to throw 43 times in a game again. Thats too much IMO. On our td drive Brown started to look like he was putting it together. Holes were starting to open. I understand what Linehan/Saban were thinking though because it was getting late in the game, however I wouldve stuck with the run a little more.
5) People who are saying ronnie sucks either dont know football or just looked at the box score. The dude fought very hard for yardage and even carried Vilma and someone else ON HIS BACK for a big first down. After seeing that, as well as some of his moves, Im finding it hard to believe any knowledgeable fans are questioning him 2 games into his career.

Thats all. Im glad I found a place to post my thoughts. I hope they are reasonable enough for this thread. Thank you for starting a place where we can actually talk knowledgeably about football.

The secondary was pretty pitiful.

I disagree. Yes scheulters got a big penalty, but he was just a second too soon, his timing will come as the season goes on. I think reggie howard is awful and everytime you saw someone wide open down the field it was his man. I thought Tebucky played well, he almost had a pick. Madison was also pretty solid. Was the secondary great? no. But i dont think they were terrible. My biggest concern is howard, he needs to be replaced.
