I think we should try to make as many threads about Ricky as possible and turn finheaven into rickyheaven. Lets try to get all ricky threads on the main board...

I think the main prob with that line of thinking is that Ricky may be much better than Ronnie. Remember, What Ricky did for us with that poor OL and conservative scheme is no small thing. Ricky is a proven player, Ronnie has alot to prove. Hopfully Ronnie will be better, but I think the odds are that he will not be better this year.

I happen to agree with your thoughts about how to use the backs, but I disagree with your line of thinking that the odds are Ricky will be better this year than Ronnie.

I understand the whole rookie learning curve thing, but if we weren't reasonably sure Ronnie Brown was a very special back then we made a bad selection with a #2 pick.

As I see it, Ricky Williams has had one great year in this league, the rest were something less than great.

He didn't run nearly as well in 2003 as he did in 2002, as many noticed he just didn't seem to run as hard. The same can be said for Rickys early years in New Orleans.

With the time away, the weight loss and god knows what is going on in Rickys mind, I would fully expect Ronnie to be the more productive football player.

I truly believe Ricky is coming back for one reason and one reason only........money. I think he can be an asset to this team but I don't see the 2002 Ricky ever showing up again .

Here's what i would do with Ricky and Ronnie though. When Ricky is in the game, why not split Ronnie out at Reciever. He was said to have had the best hands in this recent draft, including recievers, so why not let him showcase that when we have an all-pro in the backfield. We could even run a four reciever set with Chambers, Booker, Boston, Brown and Ricky in the backfield. Now how talented would that offense be?

imagine... brown, boston, chambers, booker, and Randy Mc. that would be like a nightmare for a defense

I thought I read last week that RW said he has 2 years left in him. Who would trade for the guy when according to him he only has 1 year left and has already shown he'll walk away without a moments notice. The only value he has is if he can play well for us. RW has absolutely 0 trade value.

Well ... if you think about it every year there is a team that has the WIN NOW persona because they have an aging team and feel as tho if a SB doesnt come there way in the next season, its time for rebuilding again. With that said, I'm sure there would be teams looking for a running back that could produce just one more explosive year but even if RW comes back to the phins this year and has a phenominal year, don't look for anything higher than a 2nd rounder after he made a comment like that and with his reputation already washed away at sea.

I havent seen a whole lot of Ronnie Brown, other than highlights on espn during the draft (I'm working on Saturdays scouting for the next weeks game), but from what I have seen I liked Cedric Benson better as a RB. I think Ricky Williams is better than both. I suppose most of the question will be dependent on how much Ricky's time off has backed him up. If Ricky can come back to full form, there is no way I see Brown keeping him off the field.
as for our pick at #2 overall being a bad pick if Ricky comes back and beats Ronnie out,...remember, when Saban drafted Roniie Brown Ricky was still out of the picture.

I disagree with your assessment, Brown impressed me much more than Benson and obviously Saban felt the same way.

As far as Ricky, I think Brown is bigger, faster and a better receiver..by far. He showed better power than Ricky as well.

I also think Saban has known for some time that Ricky was probably coming back, but with Rickys flaky history he certainly couldn't bank on it, also with the inability to find a trade down partner I think he simply drafted Brown as the best player available.

I saw a lot of Auburn games and RB is a stud.
