John Bonamego-Special Teams Coordinator

First and foremost I'm a die hard Dolphin Fan but I'm also a football fan. I don't know why he hasn't been fired. Our special teams sucks...they can't block for our returners and they always give up field position...the Falcons had a short field the whole game. We have three studs returning kicks...Ginn, Bess and Cobbs...another special teams coach with any skill would have these guys working up to thier full potential...I also think Cam Wake should be on Special Teams all I read about was how fast this guy was in OTA's and TC...use him make him work.
 
You are late for the Bus. So is everyone that says our offense sucks NOW. We had the TB game and it should have been all urgency, all the time. But no.

Excuses were made, false hope was had, and the reality was denied. What I said after the TB game, (and I got destroyed for it on this board) is now clear for everyone else to see or admit.

I called for this loser to be fired and was told I was being irrational and reactionary. The guy sucks. Our STs suck. Our Oline coach needs to go as well. He sucks.

Now I know that some people are STILL going to come here and say, "settle down, its only one game, he needs time, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah." Whatever. Next year, they will come here and say the exact same things I am saying now. Pennington sucks. OL coach suck. STs coach sucks. All of our TEs suck. Every last one of them.

This is not my first rodeo. This is another sucky year for the Fins. You doubt me? Just watch.

I'm with ya -- at least on the special teams part. ST were horrendous last year, and not for just a game or 2. They put WAY too much pressure on the d (forced to defend a short field) and o (forced to score on too many long drives).

Not too sure about the OL coach. I'm kind of sickened by the $$$ spent on questionable talent (grove, smiley, carey). Hopefully the investment will pay off ASAP.

Thats the problem with this coaching staff. All bark and no bite. Everyone thinks sparano is a hardass but the FO doesn't have the balls to make decisions that will actually impact and help the team. Too afraid taking a risk. Just like our offense.

I love sparano, but grow some balls. Fire the specials teams coordinator. We're on year 2 and the ST still sucks. And sit penny and lets see what we have with henne and white. Its all about winning the big game. And obviously the FO can really care less about the big game. They are too afraid to hurt peoples feelings.

I agree with you 100%. When the Bills (and Bucs) fired their OC I was like "Yes, someone is not afraid to make moves." We need to make a few moves, we have a good team, but if our special teams suck and we can't score. We're gonna have problems.

People ragging on Ginn for the returns are crazy. Every single return he met the Falcons entire roster at the 13 yard line. What do you want the man to do?

Something needs to be fixed on our ST and it needs to be fixed in a hurry

I agree completely with this. I was at the game in Atlanta and was sitting behind the end zone where the Dolphins fielded most of their kickoffs, and Ginn was always met between the 10 and 15 yard line. I was able to watch the Atlanta kickoff coverage team come straight at where I was sitting, and on every return someone on the Dolphins completely missed a block and that guy got to Ginn (or Cobbs later in the game) early. That's just terrible execution.

If you're watching the Chargers-Raiders game, look at Sproles on the kickoffs. Yes, he's a great returner, but you can drive a truck through the holes that his blockers are clearing for him. Ginn is a good returner, but you have to have the blocks to work for you, and they weren't there at all on Sunday.
 
Bonamego is a disgrace. Who knew that we could find a ST coordinator worse than Keith Armstrong. As stated, Special Teams has been abysmal since Westhoff left.
 
Also I thought MIA fired their O-line coach last season...I guess they did'nt.

I understand Bonemago is far, far from the best ST coach in the league, but do you honestly believe that there is that much to teach? ST is fundamentals...blow through blocks to get to the ball carrier or drive your blocks out of the way.

And don't fumble the da** ball with less than 2 minutes left in the game (cough cough Buffalo).
