Hello, seemingly angry and insane fellow posters.

I don’t start many posts, because there is usually no reason to. If I want to participate in the QB debate, I’ll join one of the 10 threads about the exact same subject on page one. If I want to participate in how Saban is doing as a coach, I’ll join one of the 10 threads about the exact same subject.

So why did I make this thread? Well I thought I’d give you my 2 cents, in hope that some of you regain a portion of your sanity. Here are my takes on the team:

1.High expectations.

28 of our 53 players on the roster were not with the Dolphins the previous season. 19 of our 21 coaches and trainers were not with the Dolphins the previous season. But it doesn’t end here, we were a 4 – 12 team last season. Now, I know we all want to win, but sometimes you just have to accept that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Did I remember to mention that we have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL? Don’t expect too much from this team.

I remember a thread about Daniels, how he wasn’t playing very well, and what struck me was the complete lack of understanding of how impressive it is for a 4th rounder not only to start, but play well enough to keep the starting job. Daniels may not be Surtain, but he is sure as hell holding his own, especially considering how our more expensive corners are doing.

How about Nick Saban? I think he’s going to be a great coach, but guys, this is his first year as an NFL coach. A lot of people give rookie players free passes because they need to adjust, how about giving the coach one? You can’t demand miracles from Nick.

2.The team.

Let’s face it guys, we have so many problems I’m amazed we have 2 wins. Our o-line is bad, our best play maker (Rmac) has to be kept back to cover for our o-line, our recievers don’t always look like they are trying to catch the ball, and our stud RB spends most of his time on the sidelines.

And that’s just on offense.

We have no depth on CB or safety, something every team has taken advantage of at will, our stars are aging and the contracts of the underachievers must have been written under the influence of alcohol. As far as I remember, this is also our DCs first DC position in the NFL.

And then there is the QB issue, which I’ve saved for last.

The bench Gus/start Lemon/start Sage/xxxx is a bust discussion that has been going on has been taken to an absurd point. What most people don’t understand is that this team is so fundamentally flawed at the moment, that Dan Marino would look bad. Changing QBs won’t give us an extra shut-down corner, changing QBs won’t fix our o-line enough to make Rmac a target again, and it certainly won’t annul Reggie Howards contract.

Here are my feelings about the QBs:

Lemon. Whoever posted that Lemon should start next week is a complete moron. We picked up an UDFA QB, and putting him on the field after studying the playbook for a week is so asinine that I’ve tried to keep away from those threads because I would end up breaking the TOS.

Frerotte. Not playing well. Is a backup surrounded by a team that’s not giving him much help. If Nick says he’s starting, I’ll trust his judgement.

Rosenfels. I honestly wouldn’t mind giving Rosenfels a shot. Like I’ve mentioned before, it won’t change the outcome of the games at all in my opinion, but I wouldn’t mind seeing what he’s got. What most fans don’t understand when they post the 11th â€ÂSTART ROSENFELS LOL†thread, is that contrary to what some fans have stated in here, he has not beat anyone out at practice. If he was beating out Gus and Lemon right now, he would be behind center on Sunday. Saban wants to win every game he can, and I can assure you that he wouldn’t hesitate a second when it comes to switches. Like I said, I wouldn’t mind seeing Sage behind center, but if you think it’s going to win games, or he’s going to look like Peyton Manning, you’re severely naive.

3.Coaching

The coaching has been the focus of much debate, and rightfully so. I don’t believe that everything has been perfect, but how could it be ? Some positions are working with sub par talent, and as mentioned earlier, we have some rookie coaches. Let them, just like the players, get used to the pace of the NFL. I think our coaching staff has a lot of potential, but give them a chance to use the players they want for their schemes, and not DWs leftovers and one year journeymen.

4. Calm down, for the love of God!

Point is, we won’t win the Super Bowl this year, hell we probably won’t win it next year, but what’s most important thing is that we are building a foundation that will keep us competitive for a loooong time. Remember that Jimmy Johnson and Belichic all started out with losing seasons.

Don't think Saban isn't working around the clock to fix this team, but understand that sometimes you don't have enough plugs to fix all the holes in the dam.

So instead of all the negativity, enjoy the football season, because 4 – 12 or not, you’ll miss it come February when it’s all over.

AMEN Brother...enjoy the ride...I KNOW we will eventually get there

WOW.... The last sentence really hit home. I'm going to be bumming in february.

I don't know about popular, but your post is certainly more intelligent than all those clamoring for a QB change or claiming the coaching is horrible.

This post should be mandatory reading, prior to membership:D

I agree that helping pass blocking has hurt Randy's production. I'm really impressed that he hasn't complained whatsoever about it. Linehan was the OC in Minnesota, so it's not his first time. Maybe you're talking about the DC?

In general I agree with your post but I think that Frerotte deserves a large portion of the blame. I'm not saying that Sage or Lemon would do any better but Frerotte has played really poorly in the last 3 games.

Nice post. I would like to add something to this as well. As wrong as it is to label Saban a bust and to demand for his firing when we lose(or whatever the angry fans are calling for), it's just as wrong to begin to compare him and his team to Wanny's when we win. If you can't blame him for losing w/
"wanny's players", then you can't praise him when he wins with them either. As much as I believe that he will be very successful, he hasn't done anything worthwhile yet because he's only coached 6 games. I hope that after a couple years, we will all look back and talk about what a great coach we have and talk positively about his legacy. But right now, there really isn't anything to judge by.

Yea I meant the DC. Sorry bout that.

Edit: corrected in initial post.

Well said Touborg. I'm not one to start posts either, but I had considered doing one in a similar fashion. Those two big wins made our hopes impossibly high. We look like the team we probably should be at this time, but I still think we can pull out several more wins this season.

Great post .My daughter is impressed.

This is a team that is just starting to re-build.We have to give it some time but I am certain we are on the right path and that we will be challenging for that SB in 2-3 yrs.

My only question to you is who made the team that way? When you stated that 28 out of 53 starters weren't on the team last season....only one person can take the credit or blame for that. Who brought in Gus? I can't count how many times Wanny and Rick were blasted for signing Feeley...even thou they signed him out of desperation because of injuries....they too didn't give Sage a shot. We are what we are...a team with too many poor players...too many older players...and along way from the promise land. They say history repeats itself....can you say...Jimmy Johnson era.
