This offseason: Unmitigated disaster

The new head coach likes gates and runs an offense that doesn't rely on one receiver accounting for the entire passing offense. We have plenty of holes and are filling them as the draft goes on. Not sure why the offseason has been a disaster. I actually think we have been pretty disciplined and are trying to build the team through the draft like the coach said we would....

Amazing...don't even know the lineups yet and we're already picking 5th in the 2013 draft ??

WR is one position that can be found in mid to late rounds....mike wallace 3rd brandon marshall 4th just to name a few. I think we will get guys later to fit Philbin's offense.

I gotcha but what is the percentage of successful 3rd, 4th, 5th+ round WR's that become successful starters.. Probably very low.. Id be surprised if it were 10%.

Dude they have had the best draft in the last decade IMO. Wish we could get an alpha WR in the draft but Philbin may not want one or maybe we get it next year. Can't do it all in one draft.

Miami blew this offseason by not replacing Marshall With a FA like Vincent Jackson or whoever else of that caliber was there. They are screwed there now and the whole offense is landlocked

They just had way too many holes to fill and now they're stuck with who they have. The rest of the weekend is polishing a turd. Guys picked after round three have like a 20% chance of being NFL starters, meaning the guys currently on the roster are better than the players that can be drafted now.

If everything breaks right, including Tannehill not being a bust, they could possibly win 9 games by 2015. I don't see how I can be even exaggerating. They are just so bereft of NFL caliber talent at more positions than not. WR? A joke. Safety? Total joke. DE? Wafer-thin. OLB? Misi is a bumb, Burnett stole their money, Dansby is overpaid and exposed in coverage. CB? Sean Smith, meet Jason Allen.
OL could be OK but TE is middling and did I mention the fiasco at WR?

They needed 8 picks in the first 3 rounds, mostly before pick 64.
They were the biggest fail since the inception of Free Agency.

The 2012 roster is ugly-bad.

You sir, are a toolbox.....

I love the OP's optimism when there hasn't been a down of football played yet. I agree that going into this offseason things didnt look good but, the way the team is drafting they at least know where they need help and are trying to correct the problems. Better than the previous drafts where i swear they had no idea of the deficiencies the team had.

I'm mainly discussing the actual product that will be on the field in 2012. I'm not saying we're having a bad draft, moreso that the cupboard was just so bare as of this AM. Tannehill likely won't be a factor, and if he is then we'd be 0-9 by that point. Miami still has Roberto Wallace. He's probably better than anyone left on the board and probably better than most WRs picked today. Clyde Gates could still be fighting for a roster spot with Nolan Carrol who will be re-re- converted to WR.Miami could've traded back, still picked up Tanne and another 2nd rounder. The world knew they were taking that guy, I don't Cleveland wanted him that bad. That extra 2nd could've been that OU WR or that LSU kid.

Is this the rationale for not securing another quality FA WR? 'no point spending cash and cap room for a WR when you're more than one player away from success?'I get the concept but I disagree. I just think in order to get productivity from other positions you need a legit threat at WR to open up the field and be able to evaluate your QB. Ask Sam Bradford what it's like having a clown car at WR.I'm just bummed 2012 will be a poop-show.Let's cross all our extremities that our major picks pan out.One poster here kinda got me psyched about that TE we got. A poor man's Gronk?Maybe not so poor. Can Clay do what the other NE TE does?

Let's get through training camp before we start worrying that 2012 will be a disaster.

At least we didn't take a punter in round 3

Seriously this has been a very good draft for Miami. Find some wide receivers tomorrow and we'll be good.

When they announced Jax's pick I thought the exact same thing. Kinda feel bad for Jags fans.
