I know that we would all like the fins to make a big splash in free agency this offseason. Most of us wanted the same last offseason as well. The front office knows what is better for the team alot more than we do. So while I would be excited to see us go out and get some big name talent, I really don't see that happening. Also, I don't see us drafting any skill positions early. We have seen the huge benefit of us rebuilding the lines and while our lines are good, they are not great. That is the area that we will focus on again in the draft. I love Haynesworth, but look at what tying up all that money on one player can do to a team- especially if he gets hurt. I would rather have good players with depth than great players with no depth.

We are looking at a very boring offseason for most fans and I think we all agree that if a boring offseason means a great post season- we will take it.

somewhere in the offseason we need 2 get a big WR. via freeagency, early in the draft or a trade ( hopefully a Boldin tipe player)

I think we will make at least one "splash" free agent signing. I am sure this staff would love to add a guy like Houshmandzadeh or Haynesworth. We won't go crazy like the Jets did, because as we have learned over the year, signing a lot of high priced "names" does not win you championships. You have to find the right pieces. With that in mind, that doesn't mean you can't add a "name" player here or there if they fit in.

This team will mostly continue to be built through the draft. Also, a lot of cap space next year and in the future will likely be used to keep guys around longer then on free agents.

I think you'll see a safe FA signing or two, a guy like Sam Hurd. Mainly, this team will be built throughout the draft. This front office isn't dumb. They know how championships are won.

Moves this coming offseason will set the stage for Miami's glorious 2009 season, where they will host the super bowl at Dolphins Stadium.

I think this is dead on. The FO was not being tight wads last year because they were frugal. Miami has always spent their CAP.

As much as the Parcells team has said they checked out our talent BEFORE they took over, I think they needed a whole year to evaluate what we "really" have. Picking up a SOLID, young NT in free agency would put us 2 players away from a better than solid defense- and with 3 blue chip picks in the next draft we could actually see us pick up a great guard or another tackle to plug up the remaining holes on the offensive line.

And even flashing a roll of cash at Haynesworth would not strap us at all, we would have to pay homegrown talent the exact same dollar figure.

One very good FA could put us in contention a year earlier than most would have expected.

Draft Tebow as a wildcat player. Not the first round of course but maybe mid to late rounds. Unless someone is actually going to draft him as a QB.

Hmmm since the off season doesnt start until you are done playing, don't the Fins have another 6 weeks left in this season ?

attn- any dolphin player that might be lurking and posting in this message board please stay clear of this thread until after your season is over until then, this offseason topic is for your fans only and completely off limits to you

Just messing with ya- we are all just riding the wave no matter where it takes us

lets just enjoy the first time in like ten years that we are in control of the post season

The Albert Haynesworth's of the NFL ( the very few of them ) do not become FA's at the prime of their careers very often, therefore you don't let this opportunity pass you by.

He is a game changer, this is the defensive version of T.Brady/P.Manning available to the highest bidder. This is not someone else's garbage to be treasured by the blind, he's the real deal. He could be the only FA signing and make our defense #1, then add the drafting of a ILB, OLB, FS, CB and were scary good on defense.

This takes a tonne of pressure of the offense and allows them to slowly gel to come into their own.

i dont want them to spend big money this offseason. Keep drafting and picking spots in FA. Soliai looks like he finally has some fire and we have Fergie and Starks still, so i don't think we should be dropping 60 mill for DT/ NT in haynesworth. Terrence Cody is a possibility in the draft too. Same for CB..... draft a guy with one of our 2nd round picks to play nickel and sign a wiley vet to play alongside Will Allen for a year (maybe bring Surtain or Madison back for a year that would really excite fans). I think they really like Culver and it wouldn't suprise me if it's him and Bell next year. But i really don't want them going after say a haynesworth, asomugha, or boldin instead draft our own studs.

I am with you 100 percent. In this case you absolutly cannot pass on this guy if he becomes a free agent. The odds of anyone coming out of the draft even 75 percent as good as him is against us.

It would be like Manning leaving the colts as a free agent when he was 27 and the the bills saying- na, I am good, I think i will try my luck in the draft.

On second thought I shouldnt have used the bills as an example, its probably exactly what they would have done.

You have to ask yourself would you rather spend 60 million on a man that can do the job

Or spend 60 million on 3 men that can almost do the job
OR
Spread the 60 million out over 5 or 6 years rolling the dice on free agent after free agent or draft pick after draft pick- never quite hitting on someone that makes a difference.

We have the money there is ABSOLUTLY no excuse not to spend it because the cap DOES NOT roll over from year to year. (theres no rollover minutes in the NFL)

Every dollar we do not spend in free agency is one less that the patriots and the jets spend. And quality players want to get paid.

The Bills have Losman and Edwards so obviousily their covered at QB so Manning or Brady would definitely be out of the question!!!!!

In week 5 or 6 I was listening to a Buffalo radio station (yes I became alittle dumber because of it) and they were talking about how they wouldn't trade Edwards for any other QB in the league. S M R T
