Its just not part of this regimes DNA to go out and find the key FA's that will turn this thing around. Parcells wont trade up for a Suh type player, and they wont sign the "big name" impact player to a mega contract.

The process will be long and hard, the old school way.

Belicheck figured out the formula. Sigining key FA's and accumulating draft choices, striking a perfect balance of youth and leadership experience.

Parcells is too narrow minded in his philosophy which is unfortunate.

Jimmy Johnson was the maverick in wheeling and dealing draft picks and FA's. Look how fast he took the Cowboys to the SB.

In order for Fins to play like the teams did yesterday, Parcells will have to limit his bust picks and find the *alls to sign key FA's i.e. Wilfork's of the world to change this teams malaise.

Passing on Brees already cost this team at least 5 years.

I don't remember Belichick ever trading up to the number one draft slot or signing big-name FAs to mega contracts. he did it just how BP is doing it. oh yeah, that's who he learned it from.

Because all those "bold" trades and signing those "impact" free agents has helped the Redskins win how many Super Bowls under Dan Snyder's realm?

couldnt disagree more. When was the last time Parcells was in a SB? He aint no Belicheck!

The inference is that the players acquired fit the holes this team needs and were evaluated based on performance on the field.

I guess some readers need to be spoon fed all the details rather than being left to read the context into the post.

Passing on Brees was Nick Satan not Parcells, Belicheat trades down in order to get more picks, I can't remember when NE traded up in the draft when Belicheat was in charge.

So far the last 2 offseasons have been good overall, sure there was a misfire on Wilson and Wilford in FA but the rest have played as expected.

you bring this up as a negative regarding this FO, why? One in no way whatsoever can compare/bring up passing on Brees, with the current FO as a mistake in the same sentence.. Its a non topic

maybe Parcells should have cheated

That's weak.

To add to my original post, lack of boldness is also found in their team philosophy.

They pick the wrong type of players for today's game. Parcells (read regime) is stuck in the old school, while the nfl is a whole different ball game.

This is a Pass first league now, sprinkle a little running to compliment the offense and keep defenses honest.

The formula today is rather simple:

If you have a franchise QB, you win. If you kill the opposing QB, you win.

The player philosophy should be speed, speed, and more speed. Not "bigger is better..." which is what Parcells believes.

Fins got no speed. Fins are weak (or young and unproven) at QB. Fins cant defend pass, Fins cant pass the ball...

Fins success last year is in large part Pennington at QB. If he were healthy this year, it could have meant the difference in 3 games, which would have put us in the playoffs.

I'm confused...do you prefer that he trades away the farm to go up to #1 and get a 'Suh type player' or that he accumulates draft picks??

how about we give the trifecta at least the 4 years that it took Jimmy Johnson to Cowboys to the SB (which in your own words was 'fast') before we proclaim they lack the boldness to do so?

Its not in the "same sentence". Please re read my post.

Yes and No.

Yes, we should trade players for picks. The problem is that most of our players have no trade value. Which tells you something right there.

No, I dont think we should "trade the farm" for a #1 pick. Never said that.

YOu limit your remarks to the draft. I speak to intelligently using both draft AND FA.

We need players that can contribute immediately. Very few rookies, especially WR rookies can do that. We have to promising rookie CB, but they were exposed this year.

We need key FA acquisitions at key positions. And this regime has busted too many times i.e. Wilford, Wilson, etc.

OK, same topic.. Why even bother bringing up Brees? Not one person who was here when we passed on Brees (Both times) is associated with the FO now.

Geezzzzusssss! Here,, let me spell in out to you.

Passing, missing, ignoring, or, because of a "player philosopy" or "FA philosophy", not going after a key player that can impact the team immediately can set a team back years.

Get it?

Fins have many holes. There are FA's that can come in and fill any one of those major gapping holes.

Whether a WR, NT, ILB, S, OLB, G, TE, it really doesnt matter. But a key franchise player is sorely lacking on this roster. It wont come via draft.

I get your other points perfectly, just unsure as to why the Brees "arguement" seems to come up in association with THIS FO
