the quarterback position. we have a defense that is on the verge of establishing itself as being elite, yes I'm talking top 5, we were 6th last year and I think we can take that step to the next level, were young, big, and physical, although i would like to see us upgrade the FS position and I'm still not totally sold on Sean Smith I still think this defense is going to be real good for years to come, not to mention we have Mike Nolan calling the shots. Now on the other side of the ball we do have some playmakers, marshall, bess, thomas, bush, hartline, clay, gates, a good offensive line, and i would still like to see us add one more playmaker but the offense for the most part is there, but there is one problem and thats the QB position, I think it is holding this whole team back from being a serious contender this year, I hope Henne proves us wrong but I just dont see it, if he hasnt gotten it now Idk if he ever will. It's not necessarliy his physical attributes its the "little things". the guy has a great arm and can make all the throws in the NFL and from what I hear the guy does work hard and is at the gym before anybody but thats not the problem, its the small intangibles that matter. I remember watching one of our games last year and rich gannon saying that he studied hennes games and that his pre-snap reads are horrible, he does not adjust well at the line of scrimmage, he does not read defenses well, I also remember last year in the browns game on our first drive it was a 3rd & 9 from around the 30yrd line of the browns and henning gave henne the option to call a pass or run a draw, well in the huddle henne looked at ricky and says "were running a draw", thats not the makings of a leader, I want a guy who wants the ball in his hands in the clutch situations, who feels confident he is going to get the first down, I dont think he is an "alpha male", when he walks into the lockeroom do the players look at him as the leader? I dont think they do, like i said i dont think he has "it", bradford gets it, freeman does, matt ryan did, flacco does, sanchez does, and even colt mccoy seems like he gets it, idk i just dont think henne will ever have "it" because its something u have to be born with, and its holding this team back from taking that next step.

Please don't say Sanchez gets it ever again, unless of course you are referring to a dirty Sanchez because we're all aware that he's good at giving those, ask his teammates....wait i've said too much;)

I have to agree with you. I'm giving Henne 1 more year to see what he does in this system. I honestly feel we have the defense and, for the most part, offensive line and skill positions to be an elite team. We do not need a superstar at QB, just a top 12-16 QB and we are competing in the playoffs.

Well he seems to get it waaaay more then henne does, he is far and above a better athlete then henne, he can improvise and scramble out of the pocket, and he has a nack for making big throws in big games and he has already led his team to 2 afc championships, as much as i hate sanchez i would have to disagree with u it seems like the kid gets it and he def has "it".

Yup, "another year." Thats what we say "every year."

exactly, this team does not need an elite qb, all we need is a guy in 10-16 range somebody like a flacco, cassell, orton, hell i would even take fitzpatrick we just need a damn upgrade!

You lost me at "a good offensive line"...

And playmakers...Hartline? It sounds like he may not even keep his job this year...he is a #2 who should be a #4. You can't even count the rookies yet...you are just guessing they will be good. From what we have seen with this FO...you only got a 50/50 shot at that.

We will get our QB next year...............

I hope the saying "defense wins championships" rings true for us this year. I would love to see JT holding the Lombardi trophy this year.

Omar was just on wqam and he said that Henne looks absolutely broken. He said you could see all of the fans booing was certainly affecting him. I think this guy is just too mentally weak to be an NFL QB. I really really really hope he proves me wrong this year, but I'm starting to look elsewhere once again.

According to the standard this forum has set concerning offensive lines: the Colts, Steelers, and Packers all have bad lines. Does that matter? Nope, they have good quarterbacks.

Not every single position on the team has to be perfect before you get a quarterback. In fact, good quarterback play can enhance positions like wide receiver and offensive line.
