This team lacks a true run stuffing MLB

I think we are seriously lacking a run stuffing middle linebacker, I wanted crowder off this team just as much as anybody else but he at least was good at stuffing the run, dansby and burnett are both pretty much clones of each other, decent at stopping the run and decent in pass coverage, we need a LB'er like mayo, willis, ray lewis, or even like zach thomas, a guy who can rack up like 140-150 tackles, we should of signed Paul Posluszny and had AJ Edds come in on passing downs, tate was having a field day running on our defense and whenever the pats gave it to green-ellis or woodhead they had success, I don't think having two coverage LB'ers is the right approach and I think we will continue to get gouged without a true run-stuffing MLB!
 
The Texans also have probably the best running scheme in the league. I am curious to see what happens the rest of the season.
 
he was always injured that's why, but my point is we need that tough mlb that can come up and stuff the run and i'm sorry we don't have that!

I totally agree.....Crowder was a lot more valuable than many will admit around these parts. We are getting run on by 2nd string type running backs and people still hold fast to the fact that Crowder only had 2 sacks. The coverage on the TE's appears to be the same if not worse so upgrade (Burnett) we'll see. Didn't I hear Wake say that they jokingly call him (Burnett) a big safety..well the run defense thus far certainly goes to support that notion.
 
We'll see this week how much we miss Crowder.

I would have kept him as a backup if nothing else.
 
If your team is getting ran on and your playing a 34 that usually means your d linemen are not doing their job. The two inside linebackers should be free at all times to make plays in the run game .
 
And people wonder why they didn't see how crappy this team is when everyone in the media did....oh, we miss Crowder (and his 39 tackles)...oh, we miss Ginn...maybe its because you don't have a clue about football...
 
Crowder will always be the best tackler 7 yards beyond the LOS in my book. Running backs had to watch out once they reached the 7 yard mark b/c CC would be all over them. The thing that baffles me about Burnett and Dansby is they are more finesse ILBs, but are they not finesse enough to cover TEs?

No one is finesse enough to cover for 5 seconds.
 
seems like the D line shares responsibility in giving up the running yards
players like langford and solia or are they immune and the best thing since sliced bread?
 
I think the running D went down south after Dansby got hurt. Look at stats. Majority of their running yards came after 2nd half.
 
I have to laugh when someone says we don't have a true MLB......we don't use a MLB....we're playing a 3-4 defence which means you have 2 ILB not a MLB.......to the one that said we ILB's should be free to make tackles........the 3 down linemen are there to take on blockers but as ILB you need to take on a guard from time to time.....if you play a 4-3 then the MLB should be free to make tackles as long as the 2 DT's are doing their job.Bowens used to protect Zach Thomas....as for Crowder, the only thing he was ever good at was running his mouth.

If the Nt is doing his job he should be taking on two ppl..

That should allow at least one ILB to be free at all times...Thats why the NT is the most important posistion in a 34..he has to command double teams on every play...
