Last week, following the Tampa game, I posted an overtly negative, albeit satirical, thread to concentrate the negativity in one place. Few people read past my initial post; I was flamed excessively.

Oddly enough, the post was entitled "Saban's just not a pro coach." I found myself, tonight, thinking exactly that. I'm trying to be rational. I DO believe that Saban drafted well. I really do. I also believe that Saban screwed up a bunch of times - such as letting Surtain go and letting Knight go, since we're SERIOUSLY hurting at SS and CB. I believe very strongly - and I always have - that Gus Frerotte was and is a terrible move. Now that we've traded away our backup, we're stuck with Frerotte. Whoever is calling the plays offensively should be horse-whipped, since our offense is either extremely predictable or extremely stupid. I can't entirely blame the coaches for Frerotte, since his 65.9 QB rating was even worse than he should have been expected to have. However, we knew what we were getting.

I'm upset and I'm trying hard to be rational. I will find it very difficult to sit back and watch this entire year unfold if the coaching staff continues to make very bad decisions regarding this team's personnel and play calling.

I honestly will be able to deal with this season alot better when Gus is benched or cut. If we go with Sage or Cleo and a general youth movement to see what we have for next year I will watch every game with great interest. But if we stick with that 34 yr old putrid excuse of a qb I will need mass quantities of alcohol to be able to suffer through this season

this is a news flash to you? you waited til now to suggest we're hurting at QB and DB? i, for one, was prepped for this back in June... it can't be built overnight.... and look at the cap room already?.... settle down...

Every single thread is full of negativity... I just keep looking at each thread shaking my head disgust. I know people are venting but I can't handle these threads... We're 2-4 and we are better than we were at this point last year but I'm still disgusted. Gus Frerotte, Ricky Williams, Reggie Howard, Chris Chambers, Scott Linehan, and even our beloved savior Nick Saban have all been BASHED, criticized, questions, insulted... I can't take this negativity... Yes, I'm freaking upset and disgusted by how we've been playing and how this season is shaping out to be but I'm not saying we should get Ricky Williams or Scott Linehan was our biggest mistake... Would you guys rather Dave Wannstedt, Jay Fiedler, and Christ Foerester?? What if Sage does worse than Gus? I am agreeing he should get his shot, I'm thinking whomever does play against the Saints will do good regradless. These threads are getting out of control...

I disagree. I think we are not better than we were...

In terms of standings... we were 0-6 last year... right now we're 2-4 and Buffalo and the N.Y. Jets were both winnable games. Kansas City and Tampa Bay are two very good teams but we are clearly not in their league. After we beat the Rams and went 1-6 there were still hopes of playoffs despite the division being good last year, but this year we're 2-4 and the division is horrible yet people have already given up on the team and playoffs.

I don't care about the positions where we're obviously going to overhaul personnel. QB, OL and secondary would fit. Along the way we just need to make sure the guys we WILL count on in 2-3 years are legit. Ronnie Brown is a great first step, much better than I expected.

The hardest season to go through? Yeah right, last season was 100x worse than this. Everytime our offense got the damn ball I just felt like crying because I knew we weren't going to do anything with it. Atleast now we are acutally throwing down the field even if it is being intercepted sometimes, its actually ENTERTAINING to watch.

This year is so much more exciting than last, atleast we are puttin on a good show and losing than just losing and sucking and keeping it conservative.

I watched/listened to every single damn game last year and from your post I can tell you haven't, because last season was nothing compared to this one when you say its the hardest to go through, give me a break.

Oh, and another thing...NO ONE TURNS A 4-12 TEAM INTO A PLAYOFF TEAM IN JUST A YEAR, I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE! JUST REALIZE THIS AND KEEP DUMB COMMENTS TO YOURSELF. These people wonder why they get flammed :fire:

I also believe that Saban screwed up a bunch of times - such as letting Surtain go and letting Knight go, since we're SERIOUSLY hurting at SS and CB.

Yes, we are hurting at CB. Howard is that primary cause but that is predicated by the loss of our other starter Will Poole. At the time trading Surtain was a good move. Now that we're down both Poole & Surtain it doesn't look as wise. It's not Saban's fault that Poole tore his ACL, injuries happen. As for SS, Tebucky Jones has done just as well as Knight did/would.

I believe very strongly - and I always have - that Gus Frerotte was and is a terrible move. Now that we've traded away our backup, we're stuck with Frerotte.

We traded away our 3rd string QB, not our back up. Gus was the best option out there. The only thing I don't like that Saban did was failing to get QB Andrew Walter, Kyle Orton, or Charlie Frye. But then we would most likely be short Travis Daniels & our current CB situation would be much worse.

Whoever is calling the plays offensively should be horse-whipped, since our offense is either extremely predictable or extremely stupid.

Is our offense always predictable? When Shula was here it was predictable, when Jimmy was here it was predictable, when Chan was here it was predictable, when Norv was here it was predictable, when Foerester was here it was predictable, & now that Linehan is here it is predictable. I don't buy it. The one thing that Linehan needs to incorperate more is playaction.

Sure, it could happen, but with the players we have and the schedule we were given at this point it doesn't seem likely, even though I always will have hope no matter what.

Another thing to note is that we have pretty much ALL new coaches and many new players. It takes time for people to trust eachother and gel together. Oh yeah, and Nick, this is his first season ever head coaching an NFL team...he shouldn't have any problems at all should he? :shakeno:

But in all honesty the rams had already been in Vermeil's hands for a while. THat is they had already been rebuilding for that. So that 4-12 season was kind of like this season for us, the season where they started to get the pieces, that later fell into place the next year. (add to that that they pulled a QB out of their a**)

i hope gus injures himself somehow this week and cant play football every again.
that would be awesome.

sta

its his first year. coaching is not going to win every game. give it time like next year. give saban and the rest of the coaches time. dont give up on the season either.
