Write it down, this is the year Coach Bunting makes the Carolina Tarheels real contendors! Miami, VT, BC, you guys may have thought you were walking into a powder-puff division going to the ACC... guess again.

The 'Canes already got some when Carolina beat them last year, and that's just the beginning.

Oh boy, you know the Canes are looking for sweet, sweet revenge on the Heels...all I can say is welcome to the Orange Bowl and watch out for the storm!

nc will be lucky to walk out of the OB without any casualties :shakeno:

I am not looking forward to seeing the Heels head to Miami, that is going to be UGLY.

The Tarheels were great last year, and I wish them the best year. (Do they play FSU? Go Heels! LOL) They've had success a long time coming, I just hope it's not against my Canes, but still, best of luck to them.

Heh... all joking and smack-talking aside, the ACC is going to be a LOT of fun for football fans now. It's going to be VERY tough for my 'Heels to raise up to the level to consistently compete with the Miami's and FSU's of the world, but I believe they will eventually.

And while UNC will take their lumps in the near future, I think being in the "new and improved" ACC gives us a better chance of one day competing for an NCAA Championship. The reason being: A. playing better programs will eventually make your program better, and B. you have to play those "powerhouse" schools to get the recognition to get ranked in the polls.

Go 'Heels!!

hmm

They have are on the road against Georgia tech, then they face Wisconsin.

Then they are on the road again at NC state, then they play UTAH.

After that they are at Louisville, then they play Virginia, after that, at Miami

Then it's Boston College the team that beat them in the Continental tire bowl.

Then they Maryland, after that Duke, and a season ending game at Virginia Tech.

AT Georgia Tech

vs. Wisconsin

at N.C State

vs. UTAH

at Louisville

vs. Virginia

at Miami

vs. Boston College

vs. Maryland

vs. Duke

at Virginia Tech

with a scheldule like that they will be fortunate to get two wins:lol:

Ok, I'm not going to the point of predicting wins and losses, but will
just say which games seem like they *could* realistically be winnable games for us.

AT Georgia Tech - winnable

vs. Wisconsin - unlikely

at N.C State - winnable

vs. UTAH - unlikely

at Louisville - unlikely

vs. Virginia - winnable, since it's @ home

at Miami - unlikely

vs. Boston College -- ?? who knows. They shellaced us in the Continental Tire Bowl, so I'll go "unlikely" on this one.

vs. Maryland - winnable @ home

vs. Duke - winnable

at Virginia Tech - unlikely

with a scheldule like that they will be fortunate to get two wins:lol:

Ya never know. As w/ every college program, the constant rotation of personnel makes it hard to make predictions from season to season. Losing Durant was huge for us. How his replacement - Matt Baker - plays is huge in determining how our season goes.

But we are getting back something like 15 starters from a team that beat Miami, played eventual ACC champs VT to within 3 points, and beat NC State and Georgia Tech. All in all, I feel pretty good that we'll come away with more than two wins.

OTOH, we did have big losses to FSU, Louisville, Virginia and Utah last year, so who knows...

That is very true, with all these coordinators they can make great changes to their team.

Example: Look what happened in 2003 when people thought Oklahoma was unstoppable. Mike Stoops was their co-defensive coordinator along with Venables. When Mike Stoops had to go off to Arizona the Oklahoma Defense suffered by losing to Kansas st in the big 12 championship, 35-14 that started BCS controversy. After that game, Oklahoma lost 21-14 in the BCS National championship. Notice how last year when they hired Bo Pelini they became a more blitz oriented team as they already are with Venables, midway during the season the media started bashing the secondary. Also check how Matt Leinart ripped the secondary in the championship game.

Bo Pelini is now the Defensive coordinator @ LSU. They have great players on Defense who were coached by Saban. But expect a little bit just a lil bit of a drop off in the secondary from last year. The Defense should still be great.

The coaches and Coordinators can make all the difference on a team. It's coaches like Urban Meyer and Dan Hawkins that have revolutinized the game of college football by creating the Spread-option attack. Coaches and Coordinators like some in the MAC have gave their conference more exposure and have upsetted and have scared the teams in the BCS conferences.

:domodance Let's go Heels! I think Bunting has the team going in the right direction.

Check this out, the Boise state Broncos have finished either First or Second nationally in scoring offense four of the last year five years and three of four under coordinator Chris Peterson. - Sporting News College Football preview

Wisconsin is not that good. Remember they lost their best player on both sides of the ball. NC can beat them.

yea im sure they will surprise alot of people this year but a confernce championchips seems to be a few year down the road, give em time and they ill be good.
