most talented players come out of college with various maturity issues which require insightful, clever attention in order for them to produce their best football potential. it's my belief the lack of it is the primary reason for busts. respected leadership on a team is just as crucial as your scouting department.

also, i'd have all my rookies contracted to spend a few hours a week with a very intelligent sports psychologist whether they seem to need it or not. teach them to think through what's likely the most dramatic changes in their lives with reason instead of emotions. you may not save every extreme case like ryan leaf, travis henry or pacman, etc., but overall it seems to me a wise FO expenditure.

Or do just what the phins do, draft 2 in each area of need.. last year, 3 DE's, 2 OG's, 2 RB's, this year 2 CB's, 2 WR's, and let the clips fall where they may.. If you have immature person hopefully the plan b is mature enough to execute your game plan..

Ill tell you my belief as to why players with all the athletic ability / talent fail in the NFL: In the NFL everyone is good and thus to be great you need to have the desire / passion to be great. In the NFL it is not simply good enough to have all the talent if you do not care about playing football. Those who have a great desire for the game are those who become great. That is why I trust Parcels and his picks because he knows this and interviews every single player he is interested in determining their desire to play the game. That is my belief as to why Parcels is such a good talent evaluator because he understands that if you love football then you will do whatever it takes to become great! This is why players like Bess and Camarillo are still in the NFL even tho they are not "talented" enough.
