Thoughts on Desmond Trufant?

I'd take him in a heartbeat. Good player who would seemingly be a good fit for Miami.

Good Player. I'd love to see Miami take a chance on Trufant, he'd be a huge upgrade.

The corner market seems to be overvalued right now.

Proven and Decent will command well over 10 million AAV. We already have a high priced CB.

I really would prefer FA focus on OL and Front 7. The draft should focus on offensive skill players and secondary.

Our DB coach last year, now DC, showed last year he can bring along young scraps in the back. Imagine getting him some actual talent in the first 5 rounds.

I'd pass.

I'd love for Miami to sign a veteran CB. He has been solid for Atlanta and at one point been considered elite. Had a PFF grade of 70 last year and would be a major upgrade for our #2 corner spot.

Thoughts?

a vet #2 corner is a must i feel
and no comp pick lost [which is always nice]
not that we have much talent going the other way lol !!!!

Only at a reasonable price, which he'll probably want a big payday. He did just get cut... One less hole to fill, 2 year max.

He was a very solid corner just a couple years ago... has his play fallen off? Contract too pricey now? Injuries?

Definitely intrigued by this though.. yeah it would suck to have a lot of money invested in both cb’s. Maybe he takes a prove it type deal, one or two years.

The DB market is going to be over-saturated and maybe a few guys fall through to less than what they want. If Miami makes a big move in FA I would think it would be at safety since the draft is super deep at CB and a good prospect could be had in the late first early 2nd.

Good player, but I have a feeling another team will be willing to pay him more than we would.

If we could get him on the cheap I'm in.

What is "cheap" when it comes to Trufant? Or any cb we are looking at?

Any quality player is probably getting 10+ mil

Tru (as we call him in the "A") is serviceable and occasionally he will make plays like in '16 before he hurt his knee. I've never considered him elite but very solid. Someone will over pay. Shouldn't be the Dolphins. Although I like the idea of one less position to have to take high in the draft.

I think he would be worth looking into. Money really isn’t an issue if you design contracts right. The big thing to consider is that we don’t have to pay any of our current players significant money. You could give him a 2-3 year contract and he’d be off the books before we had to extend anyone from this upcoming draft class. Even if he makes $10M per year for 2-3 years it won’t stop us from having the money we need to do what we want.

A 29 yr old CB with some decent resume builders isnt gonna sign a "prove" it deal.

Maybe "prove" it for a Super Bowl team, but not a team in a the midst of a rebuild.

KC, NE or Tenn off the top off of my head.

I wouldn't take any CB high in this draft.
